NG Game Jam 5 Teams had to make games based on literary classics.

Author Comments

This is my submission for the Game Jam 5. It is based off of the Sci-Fi novel Ender's Game by: Orson Scott Card.
I tried a new (i think) style of game play that i think brings a new challenge to the table.
You control your players with four sets of controls:
Player(s) 1:
(W:up (S: down) (A:left) (D: right) [1: (fire 1)] [2: (fire 2)]
Player(s) 2:
(I:up) (K: down )(J:left) (L: right ) (Space: Fire)
Player(s) 3:
(Up Arrow:up) (Down arrow: down) (Left Arrow:left) (Right Arrow: right ) (Back Slash: Fire)
Player(s) 4:
(Num 8: up) (Num 5: down) (Num 4: left) (Num 6: right) (Num Zero: fire)
I've worked alot this weekend and i hope you like it.
I forgot to mention that there are 2 easter eggs.
Also, I noticed that when you click the button to start, you have to click on the screen again, or you won't be able to move.

The enemy's base is downward

10 just because of de book

shrimpchris responds:

They chose to percieve it as down, but it could have been any direction they chose for it to be since there was no gravity. Thanks for the 10!

I actually liked it.

The game was a little difficult to figure out. Then again I dont like to read instructions. I liked how you implemented the game from the book and made it into an amazing flash game. People might think im crazy and let them. But I think you did a great job with this. It needs a few tweaks for some of the game play. The music was a real nice touch with this game it fit really nice. Something I would have thought of playing in the book. Anyway Ill stop talking away. Hope you can make something even better nect time

shrimpchris responds:

I thought about that, but I unfortunately, didn't have enough time, I might update it to do that, but I'll leave it for now. Thanks for your time and positive review.

could be better

Like with a lot of game jam 5 games, all this game needs is some more refinement and testing. I think that you should follow up on this game and in a month or two re-release it with improvements. Then it will be the game that the book deserves.

I know that it could be better. I actually want to do the second thing that you said, and I have plenty of ideas of how to do that. Unfortunately though, it will have to be put off until I can afford to purchase the full version of TGF 2. Thanks for the review!
