Absolutely Fantastic.

This game is amazing. I normally don't play side scrolling shooters for long periods of time but this one is an exception. It has a very well thought out plot with funny side conversations with crew members. Deadeye is a pretty funny character in particular. I like the differences in the characters personalities. I think the game could use some interaction between the characters and maybe the possibility to take out more than one ship. I haven't finished the game yet so I hope the ending is good. I have payed some of the levels several times so the levels are not very challenging after a time period. I think there might be some glitches with some of the bosses because I have rarely died and I always die in these types of games.

T.T perfection

This compelling and heartfelt game gave me a sense of pride that i was able to play it and i would play it any time of the day. its storyline is compelling in a way that i am almost moved to tears (that is very hard to do). when the game was over i felt a odd pian in my chest almost like when you lose someone precious to you but you still feel happy for them. For a game that i can beat in 3 hours it was intensly fulfilling and in my personal opinion this game should worked on a little and sold worldwide. I see no problem with this game though i would like to see it be extended a bit. Other than that this perfect game pulled at all of my heartstrings.

Now this... is an excellent shooter game.

An excellent game with an excellent story.

One might think with the amount of detail placed in the story that the gameplay would suffer. No, the complexity of the shooter mechanics is definitely not neglected. Easy enough to understand to the basic RPG player, and not very buggy. The only thing I found bothersome were the repetitive use of enemy and boss graphics.

All the characters had distinct personalities and it is very easy to get attached to almost any of them. Many of the endings were heartwarming, and maybe two were tearjerkers. I am completely satisfied as soon I finished the game, since it wraps up nicely.

Overall, I consider this game my game of the month. I look forward to a sequel. I vote for the special ending to become canon. Probably not as heartwarming as the other endings, but no less satisfying.

A flash game of this quality...

First of all let me just say how nicly surprising it was to play a game of this quality on Newgrounds. Its definitly not your typical flash game. With a massive storyline (compared to other flash games), some well developed characters, and some fantastic set piece moments, this game truly does deserve the RPG shooter title that you have given it.
The dialogue was well written with some tense and gripping moments followed closly by some rather funny comic-relief and had very few of the typos one normally sees when playing a flash game.
The music was solid and changed reguarly to suitably fit the situation.
The sound-effects (which consisted of a laser "pew" and an explosion) were simple and non-existent during conversations and never became annoying.
What I assume are hand drawn character models were nice to look at and carried the same sort of art style as an anime.
And the combat was fast and fun.
Now for the constructive critcism.
Some of the textures were extremly ugly (especially the terrain while in battle and the guns in the store).
The music was slightly repetive and annoying after listening to it for hours on end.
Some of the boss battles were bit underwhelming or they had some cheap attacks (I shall forever hate giant snails)
And as more guns become available it becomes increasly hard to buy the gun you want which could have easily have been fixed by some additional menus.
These were the major problems in my opinion but there were a few other minor things I'd like to nit-pick about.
Boss's health bars are to small you can take some serious damage in the half a second it takes to look at it.
A conversation wheel would be nice like those in Mass Effect or Dragon Age. Since this game is higly focused on character interaction anyway it just seemed like a missed opportunity.
Sometimes avoiding the mess of objects in your way becomes almost impossible, maybe something like the overdrive ability, which recharges constatly could help to make things more managable.
And finally the descriptions for the unlockable skills were woeful compared to the excellent dialogue.
All in all you have made an incredibly deep and rewarding game which is even more amazing considering this is only your third submission to Newgrounds. I shall be looking forward to a sequel (fingers crossed).
