Enjoy a sport that has been the pass-time of kings, hunters and warriors for 4000 years!

George Plimpton's Video Falconry was brought to our attention by the Judge John Hodgman podcast. Originally made for the Colecovision in 1983, we've gone to great lengths to painstakingly port one of the few existing copies.

Controls

1 - Yaw
2 - Pitch
3 - Claw Grab
4 - Beak Grab
5 - Flap
6 - DoubleFlap
7 - Claw

Happy Falconing!

How much of this is true?

I doubt the name Newgrounds was existing during that time. I always assumed it was a altered name to Tom's favorite company "Neo-Geo" which literally translate into Newgrounds.

Fact: ColecoVision is a REAL game system.
Fact: George Plimpton was involved with the early development of video-games.
Speculation: Video Falconry is probably not a real title.
Speculation: The commercial was cleverly fabricated with a talented voice actor and specialized video editing.

Hard game! REALLY hard, but oddly fun to play.
Gonna take some practice getting use to the controls.

Judging by the original controls of the ColecoVision system, you use a "Number Pad" plugged via USB port, it'll probably simulate it perfectly!

First to break 10k woo

Reminds me of my old remote control car that could turn clockwise or go forward. With even more awkward gameplay haha, cute game though. How much of that history is true? And any hints on the 2 secret medals? I've gotten everything else

Also, I've twice now stumbled upon the same "error" (or easter egg, depending how you look at it):

After I play a whole game thru to victory, and get taken back to home screen, and try to start a new game, it shows me the scores (which is weird because I press 1 and not 2), then while trying to "1" thru the menu again, it starts looping the falcon skreech fly-by. Best bug ever.

Prepare to be FALCOWNED%u2122!

Video Falconry is an amazing feat in Flash gaming and sets the bar even higher. I'm amazed a game this technologically advanced was even able to be ported over to Flash. George Plimpton would be proud.

This game has FALCOWNED my heart. <3

Old school classic

What makes it challenging is the control buttons which are rather disturbing , and the scenario which is so inspiring for 80's decade!

And a hotplate!

Fun little old school game, but I really got a kick out of the intro, the pictures near the end of you guys "working" on the game where very funny. It was also very informative.
