Hello Newgrounds :)

Nobody Home presents a 32 level, skill based puzzle platformer. We're really proud of what we've created and put a lot of effort into every aspect of the game. Wanting to create a platformer for a very long time, we set out on it. It started as a really small idea and just kept growing.

Nobody Home didn't exist before this project and most of the initial ideas for this game were drawn on a piece of paper at college one day. Fraser mocked up a menu screen and the snowball started. After getting some really basic test levels done, we showed our good friend Dan, who offered to do some loops for the game (which turned out amazing). Dan - being the avid gamer he is - picked apart so much of the game that most of the time spent was improving what we started out with.

Somewhere along the line of creating this, we got talking about other game ideas and finally realised that if we were going to release multiple games, we should have a name for ourselves. Nobody Home was created, along with a splash intro animation. As a final touch to the game, we found Tom S - a great voice actor - who recorded the intro voice "Jumping Jim!".

We really hope you enjoy Jumping Jim, we realise it's hard and frustrating, but keep at it, it's worth it :)

I actually thought this was a good game, even I didn't really understand it. It was kind of weird to see a superhero who just jumped instead of flew. Then again, the original version of Superman did that. Did you know that, BTW? Anyway, it was rather cool to see how nutty this guy looked as he just jumped everywhere. I could have sworn that you could double jump, but it was just looked like he could.

The hardest one is the level where there are those pink things and a platform. You don't know which one to use first or if you can even make either one at the right time. I had no idea so many people took part in this! It's not that part of a game, so it's neat how everyone had a different role. It's nice for a quick play.

Seems like Dan isn't very good at his own game XD! Played it for the first time and got it already, awesome(it's 1 of the 2 secrets, you have to beat the game°1 and °2 in less then 8 mins)
Really funny, the ending picture is hilarious! And medal bug: some people have problems with the medal 'Nobody Home', i have achieved it but i can get 'Liftoff' bounce of a pink bouncing block :((
That's the only bad thing about the game

I really liked the game! Simple yet beautiful, the music was really amazing and calming. The only thing that bugs me is that I have got locked up in a room a lot of times, but I still do not have the medal, do I need to do something else before getting it? Anyway, 5 stars!

NobodyHome responds:

It appears the medals are bugged. We're not sure why as they worked fine upon release. We'll take a look :)

It is very easily seen that the developers put a nice amount of effort in the game, or at least to me.

One thing that I noticed after I completed the game was the the difficulty (curve) was nice, the game grew progressively harder, but it never became frustrating. However, there are two extremes in difficulty curves: Being too hard at times (difficulty spike), and being too easy at times. At times, the latter seemed to be the case, as I only had to retry a level four times at max, most of the time.

It was fun to see that the developer made nice levels with only a few different kinds of blocks to construct the levels with. The new mechanics were showed at just the right time so the levels weren't just more of the same all the time, and to keep piquing the interest of the player. There wasn't an awful amount of levels though, I completed this game in what felt like just a few minutes, but what I played was fun.

The music set a nice tone to the game without being obnoxious, and it was of good quality. The graphics were nice too, although the fact that the player sprite spins while jumping didn't seem congruent with the otherwise blocky 2D environment/levels.

One of my major complaints is that the collision detection felt off or quirky at times, not landing on a block when it should have, falling of blocks before you are even 'off' them (which hindered some jumps).

All in all, it was good game and a fun way to kill some time. I hope you will make more fun games like this.

really cool game!

The only aspect of this game i wished was better.... was the in game background music. The background music really didn't have a game feel to it.. but other than that.. i loved the concept of over coming obstacles in a platform style!
