This is one of the many flash projects that I had to do this semester for my degree.

For this topic we had to relaunch a product in a South African context, and I thought that the Original Magic 8 Ball deserved a little more attention than it gets.

Initially you are presented with the Original Magic 8 Ball, which you may ask a question and then shake. Shortly afterwards you will be given the answer to your question.

I expanded on this by providing 3 other Magic 8 Balls that have a South African context. The first, the "South Africa Ball" (with the South African flag colours), gives all its answers in South African colloquialisms. The second, the "Sprinbok Ball" (green with South African rugby logo), gives all its answers in afrikaans. Finally the third, the "Bafana Bafana Ball" (yellow with South African soccer logo), gives all its answers in south african colloquialisms that have be influenced by some African languages. Basically, if you're South African you might find the other 3 balls, if not, I hope you enjoy the Original one. Maybe in future I'll make one with American colloquialisms...

I hope you enjoy my work.

Eh...

I don't care if this is kind of a gimmick, the ball gave me an answer I wanted to hear. So, I'll give a rating some might find inflated. Besides, I'm guessing the effort it took to create 3 new balls wasn't exactly a light effort.

I asked the 8 ball, and it told me to give this a 3! Its a nice gimmick. I dont get, what it has to do with south africa. I'll research this...
Little question: are the other balls hidden in the game or on other web sides?

Kyle88 responds:

In response to finding the other balls: after you have asked it a question it will present you with 2 arrows and text asking you if you want to ask the ball another question. If you click on the arrows you will see that the ball will rotate, on one of the sides it will ask you if you would like to see the other balls. Once you have clicked on it you will be shown the other balls which you can interact with in a similar fashion to the first.

The other 3 balls have the south african flavour.

Other than that this is meant to be a gimmick, a kind of web-banner advertisement that you commonly see on the internet. The idea is that people would find it interesting enough to go out and buy the real thing.
