Author Comments

One day, while you're testing a level for a developer friend of yours, you accidentally discover a hidden world inside the game. Alphaland is the story of exploring that world.

Arrow keys or WASD to move
Up/W/X/Space to jump

[Alphaland is a minimalistic platformer. It's pretty straightforward to play, so I'd rather not say too much and let you explore it yourselves. I hope you enjoy it!]

Hell games as art argument, how you doin?

This is definitely one of the most inventive games I've ever played here. The minimalist graphics set a good tone for it, and the ambient music made the game very haunting. I never thought a game about a block jumping around a nearly featureless environment could end up being an art piece musing on mortality and existence, but welp, there it is. This game, simple as it is, is definitely something to be considered for the "games as art" argument.

Most of the low scoring reviewers don't "get it" and that's unfortunate. I won't say it's the deepest piece of art out there, but there's some substance to this. I also found the lack of handholding to be a good quality; I only found myself stuck at one moment and that was easy enough to overcome just through fooling around for a minute. You've got a nice statement here.

Evocative

Though I think it would be more affecting if, when you win, it "fixes" the game, so that if you hit restart or reload the page, the floor doesn't drop out, you finish the level and it goes straight to credits.

I love this game!

Simple, easy to understand, easy to play, and more important, not so difficult that it annoys you to death. The storyline was also good. It almost made me cry (for different reasons), but when you read the whole story, it makes much more sense. Also the various things you can do is very good. Nice job man, keep up the good work.

This was...

This was a beautifully game. Very Very touching. Specially at the end. There is not much to say to the readers, but give it a play. It made me cry of joy! Love to hear the whispers ever now an then. Also this is a good game for the kids to enjoy. Here is your first KAS. (Kids Approval Seal)
