(This game is now available on Android for free! Find it on Google Play under 'Spike: A Love Story'.)
(And for you medal-grinders out there, you can press ESC to restart!)
It's not easy being a spike-trap. By design, players are supposed to get by you without TOO much trouble. But you just can't do that. After years of seeing the same guy running by, over and over, day after day -- you realize you're in love. Unfortunately, the only means by which you can express this love is by showing him how good you are at crushing him into a tasty broth. Someday, you're sure, he'll get the hint.
This game was made with the wonderful Flashpunk, which made the nightmare of making this a lot less nightmarish, and more of a restless bad dream.
PROTIPS: Be patient. Wait for the right moment to strike! It takes a second or two to reset yourself, and in that time he can escape! Unless there's a powerup he'll never just run straight through.

No skill involved.

The only thing detracting from this otherwise great game is the fact that most of the time whether you crush the guy or not is based on luck, not skill. Eventually it just just comes down to trying to remember what the guy does at every stage and striking accordingly. This is the worst possible way to play through a game like this, having to redo each stage over and over just to try and remember the peak time to strike because it is impossible to complete the game any other way.

Could use some aditions.

I think this was a fair game at the most. The concept has probably been done before, I just don't know of any. The retro feel gives it a "fresh" feel. But it could use some changes. One, a pause menu, I hate starting from the beginning over and over again when I want to talk with a friend over facebook. To add to the pause menu, is a retry button. The opening cinematic can get very repetitious, especially when you fail on #15 or so. Also, add a "lives" counter, so you know how many you got left until you do fail. And honestly, if you wanted more people to "understand" the game, add some consistency to the puzzles, so people can just move on to the survival mode.
