IT'S A Z, NOT A 2!

Now wiff apruvd meddlz an un introh!

Made for the 4th Game Jam where everyone was given a handicap. Our's: Make the player character fill up 75% of the screen.

CONTROLS: A smash the upper highway, Z smash the lower highway, SPACE eat (covers both parts of the highway) skinny people can be eaten, but not smashed, fat people have to be smashed, then eaten, and monster babies can't be eaten/smashed. M to mute/unmute so shut up.

The year is XXX9 and the monsters from dimension 2.26 have returned after trillions of years. They are invading the major cities of the Earth, and consuming all that breathes.
Shit went down. And now it hits the fan as the city's only exit is being blocked by one of the beasts.
The people have 2 choices, 1: Risk everything to get past the monster, 2: Live in a motel room without T.V., phone, or internet for an unforeseen amount of time...

This is our entry for the game jam 4.

Due to commitment issues, we were stuck with 3 people, and 24 hours, but we pulled it off!

This is the result...

Fun, but controls should be better explained

The fact that the game doesn't stop when a new rule is explained is annoying. I had to let myself die to read the message about not killing or eating the monster babies.

I think a small pause or popup should just show up to explain, and only show up if it's your first time playing.

It's a really small thing anyway though, but I enjoyed playing!

3498-I strung an okay early combo

-Not to shabby if I do say so myself. At the time of finishing my first game I came in second place but not too many people have played yet so I fear it's probably a pretty bad score :p

-I think you guys were able to put out a pretty good game considering the circumstances. Making a game in under 24 hours is no small feat. The handicap you were given is interesting and a giant monster is only fitting. What exactly that monster is I have no clue as it just looks like a square with baby squares.

-Gameplay is rather smooth and the controls work a lot better than what I originally thought when I read the author comments. Two lanes and a slow addition of new features as the levels rise is a great ease into gameplay. Without it I would of tanked my lives much faster than I did(losing most on level I died). Eventually it just became too fast for me to keep track of pressing the right buttons accordingly and in time but everyone has their own speed.

-Music is nice and dramatic but not too overdone for the game at hand. Has some nice sound effects to go with it as far as gameplay too. Love the pixel art as the people are easy to distinguish from one another(fat and skinny). And once again the monster is pretty cool.

Sweet

While it hurts to acknowledge the fact that my competition did something of value, this is so damned good I can't help but congratulate you. Excellent work!
