Hi everyone! This is our entry for the Game Jam #4! Our handicap was to make a game with only using arrow keys, so, you will only be able to use arrow keys :)
In this game you are a metalhead (you can choose to be a woman or a man in the playlist) and you have to keep headbanging as the rhythm asks you to do. The multiplier will become bigger each time you play a note; you will gain more points if the note is more centered than down than if you keep pressing the arrow keys all the time. After you finish, each song has his own highscore table, so you can submit your score for that song!
Don't get mad if a lot of arrows come down, try to make circles and catch as many as you can doesn't matter if you do something wrong, you just will win a bit less of points.

Hope you have fun with it!

Extra:
Total songs: 8 + 1 Tutorial
Characters: 1 Male and 1 Female
Headbangs: Infinite

Fun while it lasted

-These game jam submissions are usually pretty good since they make you think outside the box to make games. Being able to only use arrows narrowed down the possibility of games quite a bit. Choosing a musical based game was probably the best choice as a platformer might have become tedious.

-The guy and girl were pretty well drawn up and all of the animations for the headbanging actions worked out well. The game is fun to play but with only so many songs comes so much gameplay. So after a while it does get a little boring. I will say that the song choices were really good for the type of game that you made though.

-The scoring system works well but doesn't penalize you much for mashing buttons instead of timing your presses. Overlapping arrows would sometimes both disappear after pressing the arrow once and makes it easier but i'm not sure if it was supposed to do that or if it's part of the proximity. Anyways it's a fun game but having the time constraint really hurt how good this game could have been.

Entertaining

It's nice how you could add some pizazz to something that has been done in such similar ways before.
It was a bit frustrating at times, but surely not a bad game.

Broken Record

Everything I'm about to say has probably been said a million times before but...

The game wasn't bad. But obviously if you had more time to put alot more effort into it this game could've been more popular and alot more fun to play.

Things like the arrow ordering. Most people who play games like this have played games like FFR and Stepmania (Just to name a couple) and the arrow ordering goes Left, Down, Up, Right.

Colouring the arrows is based on where the arrow is in the chart. Like Red (4th Notes) Blue (8th Notes) Yellow (16th Notes I think) etc.

The characters were drawn really well, and I was surprised to see extra head angles when you pressed diagonal keys which was convenient for those rolls.

Maybe what would be a good idea is rather than having the head move a certain way corresponding to the key press, you could have an animation for every arrow in the chart like:
- 4th Notes (Headbanging)
- 8th Notes (Right hand thrashing horns)
- 16th Notes (Left hand punching the air)

That way your character moves around more and you're involving more than just the head.

Not a bad game though, graphics were nice (arrows needed work thought)

Keep it up.

I liked the idea of the more positions, I just think it would be very difficult to control, or maybe I didnt understand it well. Anyway, if there is a gold or something like that version, i will tell funandmore about this to see what he thinks
About the other things, yeah, people already said it :P
