CONTROLS:
Arrow Keys - Move / Aim
Z - Shoot
X - Jump

You can also use WASD to move and JKL to shoot/jump/change weapons, however on some browsers/keyboards you may run into issues with too many keys being pressed at once, nothing I can do about that.

PLAY WITH A CONTROLLER:

If you have a PC Gamepad, I highly recommend using the Joy2Key Software. You can download it: here: http://bit.ly/NCx4h

Saving - Progress through the stage is saved automatically at every major checkpoint. If you have to leave and come back, your progress will still be there!

Bugs - If you do find a bug, please report it to me via PM. Be as descriptive as you can, I can't fix things if I don't know what went wrong!

Sticky Keys Bug - If the keys feel like they're sticking, character keeps running after you let go, please read the third post in this thread: http://www.newgrounds.com /bbs/topic/1123318
This is a bug with some browsers/systems and there's really nothing I can do to fix it.

Well, this is it, the final stage. I hope those that have enjoyed the game up until now agree that I've saved the best for last, just don't expect the journey left to come to be an easy one.

Graphics are an illusion.

I love this game series, it lasted a while for playing. The character's were funny and their voices were picked well. Graphics? looks like MS Paint, but does that make this a bad game? No! Congrats on this successful series, and hope there will be more.

What a huge and fantastic game!

I've been waiting for the last episode to submit my review, so here it is: this is one of the biggest and most immersive flash game I've experienced so far. Most flash games I feel are more like toys instead of real games. They usually rely on a single gimmick and constantly adding around that. Often gameplay consists of just doing the same task over and over again in slightly different ways. Well there is no gimmick here, unless you consider side scrolling shoot-em up a gimmick in itself.

Visuals: Yeah, they are extremely plain looking. It looks like an elementary schooler can do a better job... or can they? Although the art style is ridiculously simple, the animation is not. Everything is very fluid, and some backgrounds, especially on stage 6's factory section are filled with small animated details you can definitely appreciate. The way each character and enemy moves is done so it looks very natural. Some enemies even have unique death animations. For where detail to the art itself fails horribly, the detail to the animation is great.

Sound: The sound is alright. The effects are your standard fare and most of the music was borrowed. However, the thing that this game has to stand out is the voice acting. For the most part, it's superb. The green haired hunter chick sometimes over does it a bit though.

Gameplay: Finally, here we go. This is absolutely top notch, and is what allows this game to be considered fantastic. Enemy patterns vary greatly, and the amount of detail and thought that went into creating them is unbelievable for a flash project, especially the bosses. Every new enemy you meet will force you to stop and analyze the best weapon and tactic to destroy them. Speaking of weapons, there are 4 different types of weapons you'll find throughout the game, and each have their own unique strengths and weaknesses. I found myself switching between the weapons a lot, because it was simply smart to do so, another sign of great design. On top of that, the map layout is always changing, so you must stay on your toes and think fast to get through without losing all of your life. As challenging and encaptivating the gameplay is, you are provided check points constantly throughout the game, and these can be accessed any time you start the game again, which helps keep the game from being a frustrating mess. The game also lets you occasionally take control of your ship for a refreshing different style of gameplay.

Features: The game also has some neat little extras, like a cute little instruction booklet, speed run mode, and a challenge modes for some replay value. The speed run mode basically times you while only giving you one life, and the challenge mode forces various handicaps on you while playing through the level as you normally would. Although some of the challenges seemed silly like not being able to look up or down as a handicap.

Overall, I will say this: A game cannot even be considered good if it is broken at the core. This game has that core, and an extremely solid one. Where the game seems to lack in detail in some obvious areas like visuals, it still has some of that special pizazz that lets it stand out like the huge creative boss fights. This game provides an experience you usually can't even dream of in a flash.

Very nice game.

This series was quite enjoyable, definitely had me anticipating when the next stage would come out. The game itself was difficult, but fun. The story was interesting, the music was enjoyable, and the characters and voice acting was pretty good. Boss fights were a lot of fun, though hard, and they all had very good and differing designs. (I have to admit it took me nearly ten deaths on the boss you fight before you get your pistol to realize it was shooting my machine gun bullets back at me when I hit it).

Mizar was a great villain to have as well, and you know you've made a good villain when you have someone playing it and cursing her out every time you fight her, especially the last fight, she just wouldn't give up.

My only compliant is the controls. Having to move while shoot diagonally, got frustrating sometimes, and since the buttons were close together, I found myself occasionally hitting the wrong button and jumping instead of shooting, or switching weapons, or etc.

The graphics weren't superb or anything, but I kind of liked it. Also loved the metroid and megaman feel of the game play. Felt nostalgic in a way.

One thing I have to say is I feel you should have made the challenge modes more noticeable. Usually after I beat the game I wouldn't return to the title screen and instead would navigate to something else. In fact it wasn't until a few hours ago, when I decided to through the game on hard, did I notice the challenge and speedrun modes and that adds so many more aspects to the game. I suppose normal people would have notices the extra modes from the locked items in the extras menu, but I usually forgot about that as well. Oh well, definitely a nice touch though and I'll be looking forward to beating all the stages on hard and in the challenge modes.

Anyway, overall a good game, I can tell a lot of effort went into this and I hope another saga like this might come out in a year or two. Until then I'll be happy with this one.

S'right.

Okay, I'm gonna rate this game overall here. Gameplay was okay and kept me entertained until the end. Plot was also okay, as it also kept me curious. It had its funny moments, too.

Character design and graphics were poor. Mostly because the art wasn't very expressive and looks like it was done on MS paint. I think the biggest problem comes from the arms. When characters are in passion or angry, they don't move their arms. It's not natural, man! Also, the characters are wearing some bland outfits for which are supposed to be Space Marines.

Voice acting, I'm sorry to say, was fucking awful in this last part. Is the girl who played the villain okay? 'Cause she sounded like she was dying in the parts where she was supposed to be angry.

Overall, fun. Sorry for the low score, but I'd be doing you no favors for a high one. I hope you improve, and I know you can.

Fun

A decent challenge without being unfair (although the grey lizard's first attack stage was bullshit) and although everything was very basic, it was still entertaining.
