This film was completed before I started work on Tarboy, and I figured it was about time I packaged and released it. It was my third year animation project in college and the first larger scale short film I completed. It was also the first project completed that Hania and I collaborated on.
The production of this was an absolute nightmare to say the least. Working on this project was the reason I decided to do Tarboy completely in Flash.
My overall pipeline for animation looked something like this: 1.Draw images on paper. 2. Scan into Photoshop for digital paint. 3. Bring into morphing software for head turns 4. Export into Flash for character animation. 5. Export into After Effects for compositing. 6. Export into Premier for Editing.
I'm thinking this will receive a mixed response, but at this stage I'm glad it's finally out.
Hope you enjoy it, check out the bonus features if you want to learn more about my messy pre-production process.

Wow...
This is a beautiful peice of art, you dont see many meaningful flashes and the music suits it perfectly- you and hania work well together. Keep up your amazing work :)

Excellent.
Purged is not something you should take at face value. It is a deep and expressive flash, which is rare, and its symbolism can be interpreted in multiple ways. I like how all the emotion is shown through facial expressions, looks and the music, the lack of dialogue really adds to the mood and leaves what exactly is happening through to the imagination of the audience. It's "Artsy" in a good way, to say the least.
All in all, this is a great flash movie. James Lees work never fails to amaze me and give me a lot to say about his movies and Hanias music is quite beatiful and fits in very well with this one. 10/10, keep up the good work.

symbolic
Of the apple. The apple representing sin ( Adem and Eve ) but if accepted could stay in heaven. so eternal bliss or choosing the right thing. this would be the hardest choice ever

Fallen Angels
There is symbolism at work here that I know is escaping me, but I can help but feel there are a few connecting threads through this work. The Fallen One refuses to take the apple, which means... acceptance? Of what I'm not sure, but the other Angels seemed to know the cost of the apples acceptance, and its refusal. The Fallen One's Halo becomes their slave-collar, to which they are still bound to the force that punishes them. Its a cold piece, indeed. I had to listen to the mournful yet relaxing theme at the intro to recuperate.
