Hunters: Relic of Stars is a 2D Action Platformer, a love letter to many old school action games of the 8 and 16 bit eras. There are six stages in total, this is the just first one!

Play stage 2 here: portal/view/566291
Play stage 3 here: portal/view/566564
Play stage 4 here: portal/view/566734
Play stage 5 here: portal/view/566895
Play stage 6 here: portal/view/567109

CONTROLS:
Arrow Keys - Move / Aim
Z - Shoot
X - Jump
C - Change Weapons (when available)
Spacebar - Pause / Open Map

You can also use WASD to move and JKL to shoot/jump/change weapons, however on some browsers/keyboards you may run into issues with too many keys being pressed at once, nothing I can do about that.

PLAY WITH A CONTROLLER:

If you have a PC Gamepad, I highly recommend using the Joy2Key Software. You can download it: here: http://bit.ly/NCx4h

Saving - Progress through the stage is saved automatically at every major checkpoint. If you have to leave and come back, your progress will still be there!

Bugs - If you do find a bug, please report it to me via PM. Be as descriptive as you can, I can't fix things if I don't know what went wrong!

Sticky Keys Bug - If the keys feel like they're sticking, character keeps running after you let go, please read the third post in this thread: http://www.newgrounds.com /bbs/topic/1123318
This is a bug with some browsers/systems and there's really nothing I can do to fix it.

I might be nit-picking but...

Well, basically what everyone else said, weird graphics, gameplay is OKAY, and the voices are good/nice.

But whats with that second boss? I can't play it anymore, because I can't beat her.

The first phase? Sure, thats cool, but the second? Well, the laser going downward was easy to dodge, but if I messed up, she landed like 3 hits! Then, the fist SMASHES me in the face cuz I got hit and couldn't move, THEN, the diagonal laser hits me for two damage!BAM! I'm dead!

So... could be better, but is ok.

Good Game.

The music was great, but the graphics were too simple and colorful, and the controls were awkward. There should be a way to change the controls around, to the players liking. I didn't get very far in the game, because this made me want to play super metriod really badly.

The game was alright, if you can get used to the controls.

Its a good game, but horrendously disappointing

When I saw front page feature and all the well known voice actor cast, I was actually really excited for this game.

Its not a bad game overall, but the hype makes you expect something amazing. Thats probably why people are so disappointed here.

As far as the game itself goes, its really on the right track. The general concept is pretty decent, but there are some serious presentation flaws.

1. Plot is ridiculously blunt and corny. You could probably do the same exact plot but with some minor differences in dialog and cutscenes and make it so much more interesting.

2. Boss AI is repetitive and too simple. So its only fun for the first 8 seconds of it.

3. Graphics could really use work. There were a lot of overused gradients in this game. Characters were blocky and disproportionate. If art is not your forte, then you should just learn to draw simpler. You'd be surprised to find that simplified visuals actually help tremendously. You could also do sprites.

PS: Since when did machine guns deal less damage than hand guns? I mean, I suppose there is gameplay balance to consider, and it IS in the future, but you didn't have to call out your own plot device so blandly like that.

Not bad, could use a little improvement here/there

The gameplay was ok- Nothing overly special, but not too bad. And I, for one, liked the voice acting. The voices themselves were kinda... squeaky, but I felt that the actors were enthusiastic in their words, and that means something.

The graphics were like something I could make in MS paint though- they could definately use an overhaul... of any sort. Also, some added gameplay mechanics (perhaps a couple more animations, and maybe some new moves or powerups like a walljump) and I think you would have a solid game here.

For now, it made me want to just go play some metroid, lol.
