Hello newgrounds, i'm JSL and this is my NG account, tomoAwasu.
CatGrim was inspired by the single-screen arcade games of old where the entire screen was the level (Donkey Kong, Space Invaders, etc). I also played alot of Super Meat Boy while making this, so that probably influenced me into making CatGrim harder than i may have planned :p

If you forget the controls just press P (for Pause), the pause menu contains the controls.
(it's my personal philosophy that everything you should need to know to play a game should be in the swf and not this commentary box.)

*note: some people have keyboards that prevent you from holding down multiple keys at the same time (example: W, K, L). The game is programmed so you can hold down as many keys as you want, so if you encounter this issue it has to do with your keyboard setting*

I gotta say I love it. It's really nice how you took this simple concept and used it in all these different ways so that the level designs are clever, original, and at an even difficulty level. At a sweet spot where it's hard enough to make a level rewarding to beat and not unfairly difficult.

Siiiick

It's cool how a simple set of mechanics can make for such a complex and thought-intensive game. It's got that old school difficulty, but not in that cheap way I've come to expect of a lot of other games. It takes a very small set of rules and explores every one of them fully, in interesting (and infuriating) ways. As such, I can safely say that this is a solid game. Kudos!

Almost perfect

The only feature that I would like to see added is some kind of system to allow the player to see on the level select screen what levels they have already completed. A simple checkmark on the completed levels would be fine. That way, I can come back to the game and not have to guess or remember what level I was at.

Other than that, the game is solid. Infuriating, but I keep playing anyway because it's a cat. :p

I think it's maybe underrated?

I played this a little. It's quite enjoyable and fun. Also it's like a platform run\jump puzzle. I think it's nice game. Hm... it deservs more than 3.33. I think 3.9 would be fair.
