Loved the game wondering, what happened to Listen2Reason

hentaicook responds:

Creative differences. He's welcome to work with me in future projects, but I'm not very easy to work with because I can be overly controlling/restrictive. I respect the man, and have the best wishes for him.

I did not expect to to find a web browser based game that could hook me for as many hours as this game has. It has a pretty well thought out story, provides good laughs, and good H scenes.

While the character sprites may be two dimensional, the characters themselves show more depth than that at times, making you care about them, getting the player more invested in the scenes; including the H scenes. (H scenes are better when they involve characters you know)

The RPG elements work fairly well, offering a challenge, and forcing you to think about your choices. However, this is also the games drawback. The outcomes of your choices can be frustrating; outcomes of choices are not always logical, being affected by your BASICS stats in ways that are left for the player to guess, as well as being affected by the roll of the die. Sometimes, selecting the same exact choices with the same exact BASICS stats can have two different outcomes. Lastly, when it comes to completing or failing to complete a quest, often the only difference between the two is the message at the end, leaving the player confused as to why they failed, when the same things happen when you successfully complete the quest. Other times, there are only minor differences in events.

Still, in my humble opinion, this game is worth the $10 to unlock the full version. I would recommend playing it on the Hentaicook website. The version there seems to be a little newer. When you right click and press "rewind" to go back to the beginning, the game doesn't re-download all the files, it just restarts, and the spacebar works to skip past text, like in Aching Dreams 1. While you can play the full version on NewGrounds, I was only able to access the unlock options on the Hentaicook website. (Just don't rewind during a mission, it broke my saves)

On a final note, it would be a time saver to have instructions on how to purchase the game, either in the game itself, or in the game's description.

Here's a copy of the instructions for purchasing the full version, just so they are easier to find:

To buy, register at andrograde.com, buy the required coins for the game (1100), login in the actual game, and use those coins to unlock the game permanently. If you have problems with these steps, contact support@andrograde.com

Why do we have limited days? I just want to continue what I'm doing, without losing my progress...

hentaicook responds:

There are two reasons the game has limited days. First, it provides a plausible story to the player: relationships usually take a couple of weeks to come to fruition. Giving the player unlimited days would create a scenario in which all women were dated at some point in the player's progression. That point would require an explanation on how these women reacted to that fact, or if the player's character could keep it a secret (see the film: How to be a Player (1997)). I didn't want to shift the focus of an impending doom castle into a focus where the player is being... a player.

Secondly and mainly, it provides difficulty. If the player had unlimited days, he wouldn't have to make any good decisions. A good decision is when the player chooses the right equipment to bring into training. We want the player to make decisions like this. A bad decision is when he loses all of his HP in training, and must rest for three days. If we penalize the player three days out of his thirty, there's a sense of loss. A sense of loss provides challenge.

I am glad that you asked this question. You, my dear fapper, stand much to benefit from understanding difficulty. Difficulty can be beneficial to us. Losing a game signifies that the player must do something differently in order to win. In this case, you might learn that time management is important, or not everything is free. Thirty days are a restriction. Learn restriction.

The next Aching Dreams will have a different spin on the day system. It's a zombie survival game. You have an unlimited number of days, but you are limited by your actual skill to survive. You might last anywhere from 30 to 70 days.

I have purchased the full version played through it multiple times (all on easy XD) and have enjoyed it, it was definitely worth the money. One question on your home site I cant go to the blog it says 404 page not found and was wondering what the news is on the third one. Also I know I said one question but I missed the fund raising off ads3 and was wondering if you will be offering the extra for a marked up price after the release.

hentaicook responds:

I'll fix the blog link, thanks for pointing it out. News of the third one will be posted later on. If you missed the fund raising, I might hold another one later on.
