18+ Adults Only!

Hail to thee, Sexy Adventurer! Aching Dreams 2nd Session is a Hentai Fantasy based Dating Sim.
All of the art is completely original, with loads of hard work invested in the story and characters.

Travel to Ancient Serenia, date the women, train your stats at the guild hall, and buy new weapons at the shop. Immerse yourself in a five hour plot heavy game!

The success of Aching Dreams 1 has prompted us to make a pay for sequel. AD2 is NOT a free flash game, but there's a lot of free stuff to enjoy! Jeanne's story is free. You can buy the rest of the game for 10$.

EDIT: AD3 is in production. Check it out at hentaicook.com

Candice

I love the game but I have one question. What exactly do you do with candice after she knocks you out, takes you to the cave, and says come back later when you know what your magic power is? Couldn't find out how to get back there. Is there a stat you need high enough?

hentaicook responds:

I don't want to give it away. At the end of the scene it says "Get it yet?". You haven't gotten it, so why don't you play it over again and review it (which does nothing mechanically, just might help jog the brain a little). It's a tough puzzle but people are pretty happy when they get it by themselves.

A game with great potential

Warning to all who want to play this game: don't play this for quick enjoyments. You gotta earn it.

Having played and thoroughly enjoyed the first achingdreams, I was excited to see there was finally a sequel after all this time. I would quickly rate the first one a 10/10. Now despite the similarities to the first one, there are various things that this game does that the first one didn't do. It has much more content (that I sadly won't be able to play), better variety of choices that gives you a seemingly uncountable possible ways to go about the stories, and there are a lot more secrets that you can unlock depending on your stats. All in all, it just feels like a real game.

That's where the problem lies in my opinion. As a full, comprehensive game that one would sell, I feel it lacks that oh so important polish. For example, the game is WAY too unclear on exactly what gives one exp. On my first gameplay, I wasted almost all of my days failing a bunch of stories only to later realize that I wasn't gaining anything from failures at all (other than some health). It was almost too late when I realized the guild hall was the only way to truly gain exp. As a "game," I found that very lazy and lacking. There should have been more ways to gain exp instead of doing the same thing over and over. Also, the girls losing clothings was a nice touch, but couldn't we at least be able to screw them once they've lost all their clothes? Just one picture (like the sex secret during the Jeanne's story) would have sufficed. The random rotation of girls and the lack of the "back" button did not help. So there's a game design flaw that I had the most problems with.

Also, back to the whole "unclear" point, I think you should have a list of tips like you had with the first achingdreams. However, these tips should be optional to view if a player needs help. I mean, opening players to so many possibilities without the intro naming any specifics of which tabs to press for what purpose was just... disorienting. I found myself wasting days after days due to not knowing what 90% of the tabs actually did. Now, I understand that's intentional, but I think at least carefully informing the players of the absolutely important tabs like the guild hall holding both the resting and the training option could help.

However, I'm mostly nitpicking based on what I felt while playing this. I got the Jeanne's ending on my second playthrough, so I'm sure my "game being unclear" point is slightly exaggerated. All in all, this was an amazing game with some flaws. Although, I hear you're working on AD3, so I'm absolutely excited. I'm pretty sure this was just a stepping stone for you towards an even greater game. I'll be eagerly waiting, and I hope you earned quite a bit from this game. I'm absolutely positive it will be top quality.

However... I think this game might be slightly overpriced.

hentaicook responds:

Thanks for the solid review! Let me clear things up on how getting XP works. Guild Hall Training will give XP, but damages your health. Dating a girl gives a lot of XP, but only on success, and it heals you as well. So you need to train until you're confident that you can pass the next date. Along the way, the player will fail some checks, or maybe he took too much damage from training, but you can make up for these by resting, choosing lower difficulty training, and better weapons. It's a solid mechanic that has the player balancing the many stats he has.

But you don't have any _real_ control over how combat goes down. All you can do is pick a weapon or rest. We hope to address this in 3, because you'll be shooting a bunch of aliens and commanding women at the same time.

As for your point on having sex with all the girls that you beat in training, well... That'd take a lot of art, and the story for it wouldn't be very good. Our games strive to make you "work" for your sex, making it more satisfying and justified, rather than something cheap like a Strip Blackjack game.

As for your opinion on the game being slightly overpriced; you are certainly entitled to your opinion, but allow me to defend myself. 88% of people that purchased the game thought it was worth 10$. Seeya next time, space cowboy.

Dear Author

Please answer this.why did it take so long for the 2nd to come out?

hentaicook responds:

I simply went on hiatus between AD1 and AD2. I started working on AD2S in the summer of 2009 and finished in a year by July 2010. Just now I'm starting to work on 3.
