This is the first thing I've ever done in Flash - so feel free to point out any flaws you notice (they're definitely there) but please be gentle. I fully plan on optimizing this and getting it all nice and polished up for the internet soon, but in the meantime I wanted to share what I'd done with some friends.

N00b groveling aside, this was done for my Flash class and I adore this song. So please enjoy. :D

Edit - I finally got around to fixing this thing up to work like a proper video. What took me so long? (We may never know.)

I just finished watching your flash, "Incident in the Alley", and I wanted to see more of your stuff.

So wow, considering you were new to Flash when you made this, it was really good! Most of the "this is my first flash ever" stuff is actually... well, very poorly drawn and animated. This was smooth, and even cute to boot!
(It probably helped that I'm also a huge fan of Mika.)

You've improved so much, too! I'm looking forward to seeing more from you~ =D

Oh wow, thanks so much! I definitely hope to live up to the expectations!

Cute!

For a noob, excellent flash! I only noticed three obvious flaws you may already know: The video has a loop (no stop at the end and "replay?"), and after the first play-though the flash falls out of sync with the music (which should fix once you kill the loop). Lastly, I think you should extend the flash for the whole song to make perfect score.

Thanks for the pointers! Yeah, I've now learned how to stop the video from looping, and we just learned the other day how to set up a button, so stopping the video and adding a replay option shouldn't be a problem at all (in fact I might just run to the lab and do it today to clear my conscience).

As for doing the whole song, I'd love to - the assignment was to do 30 to 60 seconds of a song, but when I get a little better at Flash I'd like to do the whole song, develop the little story I seemed to be getting at here, and make it all a bit more dynamic.

Not bad!

The only thing it's missing is a preloader and a replay button.

Other than that, you have a pretty good first flash there. Keep going, man!

myoneandonly responds:

Yeah, two big things that I plan on amending ASAP. Thanks a bunch!

A Wonderful Video with Two Apocalyptic Issues

First, it doesn't play throughout the whole song. Then, it loops without stopping music playback. Those are major problems. I don't know how empathetic or forgiving your Flash class is, but around here, those are blam-worthy offenses. But the sheer cuteness and wholesome romantic mush might just grant you a small following, provided you either fix these bugs or keep up the good work in your submissions, or both.

myoneandonly responds:

Well, as I mentioned to someone else, the reason it doesn't play through the whole song is because the class assignment was to animate to 30-60 seconds of music (it's a beginning Flash class, so a lot of us had never even seen the inside of Flash before this), but I can understand the standards being higher about that here. I'd love to animate the whole song when I get a little more accustomed to Flash.

And you're right, there's no excusing that freakin' loop at the end - I fully plan on stopping the video and adding a playback button as soon as possible.

Thanks for the review, I'll definitely take the advice to heart.
