This animation is a combo of rotoscoping, cgi and flash. Before attempting my 3rd animation I felt the need to go back and finish my first one. I expanded on it a bit, and added some satire and easter eggs (let me know if you find them haha) as well as tighten up the action to make it a bit more intense. Sadly, I had to compress the video to about a 1/4 of its original quality to fit it under 10MB. Which kills me a little inside when I see the grainy picture and smothered audio replay. This is becoming a big issue, if anyone knows a way around this let me know.

Enjoy and comment. Your feedback is taken into account. Seriously this entire video was basically made off the feedback from my "test" footage, cause you guys rock. :)

*Update* Thanks for all the views guys that really makes it worth it. Really it does.

poor quality

i've been to your site, watched a few of the things you've made, and overall, i find the animation all lacking quality. very little seems to be animated in flash directly, what is animated in flash is done poorly. and you can't blame it all on exporting, it's that you're mixing mediums in a way that isn't optimal. importing raster images into a vector based system is never going to work out quite right. you can get away with using static images as backgrounds, but if you intend to have these elements move around in the scene, it looks terrible. an obvious example is when the police car door opens near the beginning. it just doesn't look clean at all. more than that, it seems like the majority of the characters are still images imported from Photoshop or a similar raster based image program. and while they probably all looked really nice as still images, when you have them moving around on screen they look terrible, they don't look like animated characters walking/running/shooting etc. they look like still images, like cardboard cutouts. The walking animation on the Terminator while in the hallway was just awful. She's obviously made of three parts - head, shoulder, and hair. the three elements move independently of each other to create the illusion of movement. it's just all very lazy. its not easy to make a quality animation. i've dabbled in it myself, and found that just to get a minute or two of animation can take hours. it's hard work, it requires patience, but the finished product is worth it. try to learn how to animate in flash, without rotoscoping or tracing of any kind, without cgi gimmicks or imported utilities from photoshop or wherever. flash is a powerful tool, combined with the abilities you already have you can go far with it if you put time and effort into using it to the fullest extent. despite all the criticism, i kinda like this. you have a wonderful 90s anime style that i am fond of. the 3D effects, especially the fire and explosion and even the smoke were all very good. you may have copied the majority of this from T2, but you also have your own directorial sensibilities, which shows up here and there in this. its unfortunate that all your talent gets hidden behind cut corners and cheap gimmicks.

I think the issue here is that I'm just starting to reach the point where my work is being featured and getting attention but its on the lower rung of the latter so to speak. If you looked at my site Im sure you've seen the slow but steady progress made over each video. I mean I agree that theres defiantly room to improve. Thats just kind of how it goes you know? :)

Good

Overall it was good the only nitpick I had was when any weapon was fired the person firing it had no reaction to the recoil and it looked very unnatural. When she is shooting the grenade launcher is a perfect example. Other than this though it was a very high quality movie.

DangerousBob responds:

You are not the first to say this. I'll keep that in mind for future animations. :)

sick

Very professional, very exciting, very sick. Everything about it... ugh... it's just so god damn epic. I absolutely LOVE the terminator franchise, number 2 being my favorite. But my one knock against this animation is its faith to the series. It shouldn't really be considered a "redux", in my opinion, more of a stand alone short. Either way, awesome job. Keep it up!

DangerousBob responds:

Thanks :) Yeah I guess its more of a short film then a redux.

Amazing...

Amazing animation... it was very well done. Most of it looked very natural and other than syncing the lips there wasn't too big of an issue. my only real problem is that, first of all, the walk over the the 3 police officers that opened fire on her took way too long. it was established mid-way through the walk that there was no way they could kill her and then when she shot them once she got over there... why didn't she just shoot them from a distance? and the rocket alone would have sufficed to explain that she was all but invincible. i know i'm just being a little picky but i'm giving my opinion. other than that this is simply amazing and you get a 10 for the absolute awesomeness that this has by itself. great job!

DangerousBob responds:

for the 'hallway' walk she was actually supposed to be facing about 6 or 7 guards. I was worried it'd looked like just 3. I should have made that more clear. They where hiding behind tables and barriers thats why she waited to shoot them. hope that clears it up. :)
