Our game jam theme was "Ladybugs knocking over deadly butchers". We chose the obvious thing to do with that theme, so there's no need to explain it here.
Press Q to change quality, F to toggle fullscreen, and the rest of the instructions are in-game.

i like it. and you know what? i like the game jam. i find that it shows off the skills of newgrounds' finest quite well. sure the games and animations are as full on jawdroppingly awesome as some of the others, but they were made within a limited amount of time and a great deal of effort went into them.
in short. stfu rapidsmilebomb. no one asked for your "no-hate intended but still fairly insulting" opinion.
First off, I just have to say you did a great job with this! I love nearly everything about it - the music, the art and most especially the retrotastic gameplay. My only complaints are these - it's too short, and it needs either weapon upgrades or bombs to temporarily clear the field of brain monsters. I was thinking that since you've color coded everything, maybe you could make it so red beats green, green beats blue, blue beats red. Also, I'd love to see more level and enemy variety, but that's not really a complaint :) Great job overall, and I look forward to more games like this one!

I would have gone with giant ladybugs or something but this game in inside a brain. With a vague fragment, this team has made an amazing game! The gameplay was great and the controls were accurate. The music was also great.
The only improvement I could see is a list of the formations before you start playing. Some of the formations aren't good in my opinion.
Overall, it's a great game.

Indeed it's more than a vertical side-scrolling, the formation of the bugs is a key-element that brings strategy in the game. It allows you to shoot in every direction, each strategy having its strenghts and weakness.
The difficulty increases perfectly, so it's entertaining 'til the end.
The graphisms were nice too, and the drawings of the beginning quite funny. Nevertheless, i'm not sure i recognized which part of the human body was represented by each ennemy (does every human have some blue balls with teeth, spitting acid inside him ?). ;)
I'm not really found of the music but it was well-done and well introduced, and suited well to the atmosphere, kind of a mix of adventure and insanity.
So bravo for this nice little game.
PS : Maybe it's just me, but when i'm in fullscreen, the numbers can't be used any more to change formation. Would be cool to try to fix it.
