Well, that was rather disappointing

Meaty Boner is good on these points: the animation is solid, the style is rather good, and the narrator cracks me up with his thinly veiled obscenity.

Meaty Boner is bad on these points: the writing is lacking, the fighting is overly repetitive and useless, the enemies are also useless, the level design is unimaginative, and the Meaty Aspect was boring.

Here's why:

Meaty Boner had the great promise of being an extremely amusing (if a little too dirty) game about a protagonist that could care less about the "Serious" aspect of revenge against the guy that turned him into a zombie. If you had put story and possibly some comics in here, like Meaty Boner making snarky comments to his enemies, pointing out flaws and illogicality in the game he knows he's in, and casually passing by enemies who take their job of defending the Necromancer very seriously, Meaty Boner would surely have a better score. Instead, you delivered an incredibly boring and very lacking story for a game that just begs for some work in the Lovecraft Lite aspect.

The fighting is no better with its repetition. I can't believe that after several hundred years of being a skeleton, untethered by mortal matters like eating, Meaty Boner has not picked up any moves past "Punch-Punch-Punch" ad infinitum. If you gave him some more moves (preferably ones that damage specific points of certain enemies, like an Armor Breaker or a Grab and Toss) then I would probably spend some time fighting the enemies instead of rushing past them to get this done with. Also, some Defeat X to get Past this Door would have been nice, as I can get by this as a complete pacifist till the end.

The enemies are no better. All I fought was the same batch of enemies with the same, easily avoidable attack. I would have loved it if the enemies had different reactions to your moves and more attack patterns than the single ones they have here; it would have made the game more interesting if the enemies were smarter, more varied, and knew past "Bite in Front of Me" or "Slashy Slashy" in their efforts to get rid of Meaty Boner. Some personality like Mini Bosses who take their job WAY too seriously for Meaty Boner's casual take on fighting would be nice, and personalities on the enemies would be way nicer, such as the Slash Bones complaining about how they can't do "certain things" without seriously injuring themselves. Also, please make them more varied in their defense; it just annoys me that all the enemies have the same weakness to being rapidly punched in the face.

The level design is just lazy. There are no environmental traps, no unique scenery in each level that Meaty Boner can comment on and make fun off, no serious platforming, and above all, they're all basically the same. Please, for the sake of good gameplay, stop reusing the levels and just give us a short batch of unique levels; trust me, we enjoy a short list of Unique Experiences than an Overly Long serving of the same thing over and over again.

Finally, the Meaty Aspect was boring. Here, you had a character that builds himself up by eating other enemies. That would have led to some serious fun if Meaty Boner could absorb and build himself up to the styles of different types of enemies, such as being an infected Goo Spewer by eating too many radioactive zombies, or even being similar to the Werewolves by liking Doggy too much, possibly even a rounded hodgepodge of both of my examples.

You have great Game Making Potential. Please harness that, and polish it to make some truly great games.

PS. Thanks for making this available to me for free. I really appreciate your giving me a free time waster. Sorry for complaining so much about it.

No, just no...

Stupid name that perfectly fits in with the stupid game.

Great references!

Overall a good game, the only real challenge I found was an annoying tenancy for the ranged stun type enemies to spawn on the other side of drops, stunning you mid-air and killing you.

But bonus points are awarded for the "dot dot dot" references, and the jesters reminded me of Shaco from LoL.

...but flaccid!

Hahahahahah, I loved it!
The name and the theme are still making me laugh!! :D

I can't believe I died on the nearmost last level... But in the end, the game is evenly challenged, so there are chances for finishing the game without a shitload of effort.
A relaxing game, still love it, might play it again some time....
Keep up the good work, guys, this is probably the best 3-day game I've ever played. :)

I see what you did there.

Nice voicework and art, but I kept getting stuck with a bug where my head would get stuck in the air when I threw it, and I couldn't throw it anymore.
