High Tea is a strategic plate-spinning game, you play an independent British smuggler selling opium in China's Pearl Delta.
Buy cheap and sell high to make a profit, but make sure you also obtain enough tea to keep Britain happy. You have ten years before the opium wars begin - can you make your fortune?
Based on historical events, this game also shines a light on a questionable episode in the history of the British Empire.
Fun but could be improved
It was a very well made game. In my opinion the game would be better if you got paid for selling tea on time. The game is set up so you massively invest into purchasing tea and stockpiling opium. When you do sell the tea you don't get any reward (besides a boat... i could not care less after the second boat). You would think you would sell the tea for a profit and then could reinvest the money to increase your business. I also think as you create a monopoly in one region the zone would increase in size and complexity. Or a totally new zone.
Buy Low! Sell High!
A good market strategy game that doesn't frustrate you when you lose. Some nice historical background, plus I got to get 329 MILLION people addicted to opium. Back then, that was most of China's population. Sweet!
Nicely done with a really interesting idea! The only thing that keeps bugging me is the difficulty it imposes for letting the deadline arrive too fast.
Otherwise, really cool game!
I thought it was great...I always love historically accurate games!
I must have played this over 10 times now, its as addictive the opium you sell, but I just can't win
