High Tea is a strategic plate-spinning game, you play an independent British smuggler selling opium in China's Pearl Delta.

Buy cheap and sell high to make a profit, but make sure you also obtain enough tea to keep Britain happy. You have ten years before the opium wars begin - can you make your fortune?

Based on historical events, this game also shines a light on a questionable episode in the history of the British Empire.

Holy shit

I have never cared so much about the price of opium and tea. Man. This was actually pretty fun, even if it was just waiting for the right time to do stuff. The music was cool it was relaxing and suited the time pretty well and the view, the graphics were pretty good. The gameplay was ... probably original, I don't know really :P but it was a cool concept and I really liked it. Seemed a bit like it should be a empire total war mini-game or something like that. Maybe a few more events and stuff are needed? Like weather conditions blocking certain ports, or riots and uprisings, crap like that. If you really want to be mean you could make bad weather sink our ships or something, but people would likely rage at you for that. I really like this, good... strategy game maybe? I give you 10 out of 10 because i'm not bored yet.

could've been better

It's a good game indeed. I bet the idea came from the game Tradewinds (at least the principle is the same). But honestly, in my humble opinion, it could be a lot improved. Ok, its the only the first (if you make a 2nd), but the trading times could be a little longer. Everything happens too fast, the tradings, the weeks passing, the fluctuation of the prices. Also, we should be able to upgrade/buy new ships instead of unlocking them. I think the options to buy are just too simple, we should be able to move to other ports to buy/sell the opium. Though its not 100% original it is pretty good, my only complaint is about the speed.

Great game, BUT...

Great game overall - especially the controls and graphics are appealing.
Later on in the game it's hard to buy the stuff quickly enough, even if you have enough money - buying 570 chests of the with 19 clicks (30 chests each) takes way too much time... you should add 100 and 200 chest buttons!
And there were long long times when the prices for opium and tea were unchanged on a very high level - killing you off no matter what you do.
So, just 7 stars for this one
