High Tea is a strategic plate-spinning game, you play an independent British smuggler selling opium in China's Pearl Delta.
Buy cheap and sell high to make a profit, but make sure you also obtain enough tea to keep Britain happy. You have ten years before the opium wars begin - can you make your fortune?
Based on historical events, this game also shines a light on a questionable episode in the history of the British Empire.
Didnt win but got a wealthy retirement
Very well made and polished game
I've played for about 5 or 6 times, until i finally won :) great stuff, and i'm sure as addicting as the opium itself :)
I have to say the first time i played this i screwed over a lot, but as i played it i got better. It is addictive and involves a lot of multitasking, which was what i found screwed me over at the beginning. One thing i find annoying is that a couple of times i'm buying the last amount of tea and the bar is nearly full when Britain gets to impatient and i get game over. This happened to me on the final shipment =(
Though it takes a few games to get use to everything I found it a fustrating, complicated, and yet very fun game. Good job
Old School Drug Dealin'
Ever wonder what it was like to sling drugs on the high seas in the 19th centuryy? High Tea gives you an idea with this interesting strategy that is based on the oldest known business axiom, "buy low, sell high." As a broker for the East India Company, your job is to keep the shipments of tea to Britain going by purchasing and selling opium. You don't have to have any business sense at all to be able to play this game, rather what will get you through is a quick eye: if you see a deal, you should probably take it, even if it's risky, but mind you, you want to avoid risky deals at the beginning of the game, because some deals will cost you money, maybe even a ship if you're unlucky. High Tea is an aggressive game that demands you think very quickly: you must buy tea and opium at their lowest possible prices (pay no more than 1,000 silver for either at a time) and always look for deals with at least a three-to-one ratio (90 silver for 30 chests will land you the best cash). All in all, even if you fail to make it all the way to 1839, you'll still feel compelled to play again, because, well, this game is addicting like that.
it was new, fun, and historic.
