Here's a bloody fun Christmas holiday surprise for all our chums here on Newgrounds!

It is the year 2020 and the spoiled children of the world have gotten greedier with each passing year. Santa couldn't take it anymore, so he killed himself and now all the children are raiding the North pole to find out why there aren't any Christmas presents this year. Santa may be gone, but Mrs. Claus is still alive and she's EXTREMELY PISSED OFF at how all the kids couldn't give a damn about her late husband. Now, the time has finally come to make the children pay the ultimate price for being on the naughty list!

CONTROLS:

Arrow Keys / WASD = Move
Mouse = Aim
Left Click / Space = shoot
P = Pause Game
M = Mute

***NOTE*** We've now set it so the game gets exponentially more difficult. Once you've collected all the medals and made it past level 25, see how long you can last and compete for the high scores, because the enemies will get much stronger and faster from that point onward!

Hope you all have a great holiday season and thanks for playing our game! Big thanks to Tom and Newgrounds for the continued support of our game projects! Have fun painting the snow red!

Very good game.

OK, I'll give you a lowdown:

The plot sounds like the plot from a Family Guy Christmas Special that I had watched in which Santa Claus was overwhelmed by the greed people have and how he is taken for granted. I give the plot 4/10.

The controls are a bit OK, if not excellent. On the other hand, the game is so good that I want to play again.

Lightsabers: for kids 5 and up.

Great game, and nice themed music, (lacks tree repair and more aiming ability). I give it a 7/10 for effort, but this could really use more focus on the gameplay. Good theme and all, but lack of any really unique gameplay.

Not Fantastic

I approve of holiday themed games in general, but only if they are executed well. This game, I'm sorry to say, is not an example of such. Why? Lets hit up my talking points.

1) Plot
I think that games should either have a good plot, (johnny rocketfingers 2) or none at all (any of the thing thing arenas). This game falls unfortunately into the midway point. It gave a reason for having Mrs Clause slaughter children, but in no way was it a coherent storyline. We all know why we are here: to blow some brains out. While this game certainly gives us this opportunity (to an extent, as I'll get into later), the "plot" the game provides is shallow and sloppy, not really adding anything to the game other than a reason to kill. Perhaps the creator of the game could have other beings rampage the tree, instead of children?

2) Gameplay.
I'm gonna be honest. It was sloppy, at best. I did not enjoy having only 8 aiming points; maybe the author should consider employing a few more revolution points? If not that, I would have at least appreciated crosshairs, or other similar aiming device. The children moved very quickly and were extremely difficult to hit, making the aiming even more of a problem, as it lacked any aid in getting the projectile to the target. I would have appreciated if the children began coming in at only 1 entrance, and progressed in number of entrances as the game progressed.

3) Layout
No problems. I like how you gained points, and were able to purchase perks as the game went on. It was similar to a number of other flash games' systems, and performed quite nicely.

4) Items
Not bad, actually. I found the available extra weapons to be good, and the process of receiving them straightforward. They were greatly appreciated when Mrs Clause was surrounded by a hoard of children. However, a few weapons were inhibitory, like the bombs. I wish there was some way to switch back to the normal gun if you got a item that you did not like.

5) Graphics
Wonderful. Classic, intro screen and all. Who doesn't like 8 bit?

6) Music
I found the demonic, 8 bit "Rockin' around the Christmas Tree" to be very nifty

In conclusion, this wasn't a terrible game, but there were some real issues. I think I got a little steamed about the plot; no one really gives a damn about that anyway. But I hope you see my argument with the gameplay as valid. It was the real hindrance to the game and its performance and playability. All in all, not terrible, but not a gold medal either.

Holiday Cheer-full

// START REVIEW

0. Hello and Merry Christmas.

1. Good Points:
* Overall plot was good. Very grounded to the season. Gives a fresh spin on a Christmas game.
* Graphics. Very nostalgic. The classic, retro feel is a nice touch. Complements the theme very well. Very well executed.

2. (Not so) Good Points:
* Gameplay. The aiming mechanism was very limited. There were only 8 angles to shoot from, there wasn't an "in-between" which causes some frustration especially when an enemy gets close and out range of an angle. Weapon variety was also limited. The upgrades were really a non-factor.
* Replayability. The game, sadly, was not very engaging. It was very easy to play, even to the point of not expending a life even after the 25th level. I only played up to level 25 so that I could get the achievement and hoping that it would be a boss level.

3. Overall, this was a good effort. Just not enough variety for my taste, I guess.
