This is a short kinetic typography film that I created for an art college assignment during my third semester (second year). It is based on Light Yagami's dramatic speech in the final episode of the highly-acclaimed psychological thriller "Death Note."

For this kinetic typography film, I wanted to reflect and exaggerate the personalities of both speaking characters (i.e. Light Yagami and Nate "Near" River) through the effective use of typography, font and colour.

I hope you enjoy watching this short kinetic typography film as much as I enjoyed creating it! Plus, if you are a fan of Death Note yourself and you enjoyed watching the original series, I hope you like my own interpretation of Light Yagami's dramatic speech as much as the original version! Thank you!

-EDIT: Friday 17th December 10- Won Daily 5th Place again? Wow...Now I definitely know that my Flash animation skills are improving! Plus, this is my first ever Flash animation that received an average score of 4 out of 5, which is considerably a very high score! Thank you everyone for your support and feedback!

Wow, Don´t really know what to say,
This somehow reminded me of old "Epic" movies...
No need for animated vids, Text is enough wich is just what you prove with this typography.

Great work on the sounds and voice acting, Didn´t even have to watch all the time, just listen and still feel it.

"Author's Response:

I might consider making another version with the original English typography combined with the Japanese audio."

Yes plz do! cheers

UnknownHedgehog responds:

I'm glad that you see my kinetic typography film as an effective interpretation of a dramatic fictional speech. Thank you. Also, I don't think I'll submit the Japanese version onto Newgrounds since this website only seeks the best Flash and strongly discourages blatant copies. I'd upload it on deviantART instead.

Awesome, gave me chills ^^ But I still prefer the original japanese cast :P

if a picture is worth a thousand words...

...then how much is an animated picture OF words worth?

think about it.

I say nine stars. A lot of emotion from such a simplistic thing. Well done.

UnknownHedgehog responds:

Wow! You've hit the nail right on the head there! I'm glad that you believe that it conveys lots of emotion! Thank you for your thorough feedback!

Pretty good dude...

but Kira should have won. Stupid show.

UnknownHedgehog responds:

Well, he already won once when he was against L. If he won against Mello and Near, it would be a lot more repetitive.

For text and voice only this is awesome

Title says it all, so here I'll just list villainous anime people who would have gotten further than Light:

-Yoshikage Kira (Bonus points since his name is Kira)
-Johan Liebert

UnknownHedgehog responds:

...I...don't think your villainous anime characters list relate to this kinetic typography...
