One Chance is a game about choices and dealing with them.

Scientist John Pilgrim and his team have accidently created a pathogen that is killing all living cells on Earth.

In the last 6 remaining in-game days on Earth, the player must make choices about how to spend his last moments. Will he spend time with his family, work on a cure or go nuts?

I like the concept but...

the execution was lacking. I didn't like the lack of any feedback -- I didn't know if I had actually cultured cells, or if I just stood around in the lab all day.

Also, medicines discovered in one lab are developed and deployed in completely different labs (not that consolidation took away from the game, it just was distracting to me).

Furthermore, the implication from the title is that you can save "the world," but I didn't, even though I got the "good" ending.

Additionally, if the drug is so toxic that it kills all living cells in 6 days, then logically wouldn't John have died years before it were released?

Finally, this game made me sad. :-(

good game, too bad i had to blam it

that right, i blammed it, the lack of ability to replay it completely killed this game for me, I liked it until I couldnt try again to see if I could get a better ending.

This is a good game. Its sad, and dramatic.

I know, we had only one chance to save the Earth. But, give us a replay. Our next chance might help everyone not dying. Please, give us another chance.... We want to try and help everyone. The dead wife and daughter, the civilians and colleagues.

Good Art Game

Okay, firstly, let me state: I didn't go back and replay.

On the issue of the message, I thought this game was great. I think it is a lesson that many people need to learn; that life is limited and you cannot "reload/replay". I also understand and respect your refusal to allow a replay. In general, I think this was a great art game. However, I also want to make the point that it is a GAME, not real life. One of the main reasons that people play games is the ability to have a second chance. I also understand that not everything in life turns out all sunshine, sparkles, and unicorns that eat butterflies and crap rainbows. However, if you're going to make this point, at least give some type of ending where, although it may be a grim future, you can still save your family. (As I said, I haven't replayed, so there may be such an ending, I just didn't get it.) I would say that, at least allowing the players to see what COULD have happened would be a good idea. The real world is full of situations where uncertainty over what could have been is collossal. If anything, thats what a replay protects a player from in an art game. As a last rant, if you wanted the players to experience all of this, why did you make a game? They can experience this in real life anytime they want.

Okay, my rant is over. As art I'd give this 10/10, as an art game... eeeeh... 7/10.
