One Chance is a game about choices and dealing with them.
Scientist John Pilgrim and his team have accidently created a pathogen that is killing all living cells on Earth.
In the last 6 remaining in-game days on Earth, the player must make choices about how to spend his last moments. Will he spend time with his family, work on a cure or go nuts?

Amazing game, I got very sad as you got closer to the end. But in the end I saved the world at the cost of my wife's death, but me and my daughter survived. This game is amazing, and gets my 5/5. Wish it wasn't so sad though.
Very well done. This certainly did a great job at being sad... I was surprised it even made Markiplier cry when he played it. For me it's mostly interesting, and also very well played from a psychological perspective.
I looked at a few walkthroughs for the endings, as well as playing this myself just now. The game is indeed balanced so that you cannot get two things at the same time: Either you find a cure when it's too late and only you (possibly also your daughter) survive although your wife dies, either you stay home and delay other deaths but die in the process yourself.
It still feels like the choices are a bit too limited however. There could have probably been a few more choices you could have taken there. It's limited to the basic ones which underline the idea, which is of course good too.
This game is good at tugging on your heartstrings and is overall a good game. However, the way it gets to you is kinda bs, if you think about it.
You are a scientist who's help is needed in developing a cure to fight against some super-pathogen that kills all living cells it comes into contact with (basically, it's bleach on steroids). Your wife and daughter are, understandably, worried about the pandemic.
This is where it turns unfair- if you chose to leave and work on a cure, your wife commits suicide (likely because of not being able to handle the shock and depression alone, aka without you). If you continue working, you will find a cure which lets you save yourself and your daughter (pre-inoculation your daughter is deathly pale, post-inoculation she is her normal skin-tone; to me, this means the cure saved her life).
It's unfair because you should have taken your wife and daughter *with you* to the lab. Not only will his family's presence give John moral support to help him put 100% of his effort into research for the cure, but it will also allow him to be close with his family and be able to keep them safe. It's an option that allows you to save people, and be with your family- the best of both worlds.
With this game, making the choice to help others is pretty much seen as the "bad" ending. If you chose to help work on a cure instead of stay with your family, you find your wife has committed suicide- leading to a feeling of "I was too selfish to stay with her when she needed me" when you were actually trying to save millions of lives, including her's- which is a noble and commendable choice.
All together, a crucially important choice is missed- to bring your family with you to the lab. As stated above, that would give John a reminder to work hard to save the human race and allow him to be with his family to comfort his wife and daughter. Also, the fact that John survives until the last day means that his family might even have a better chance of not contracting the disease so soon if they are in the lab, as being away from his home seems to have prolonged John's contraction of it.
