I prefer not to say too much about the game, as discovering the details for yourself is part of the experience. My personal thoughts about the game and its history are in the afterword, but interpreting its meaning is up to you. Everything in the game is there for a reason.

Description:
The Infinite Ocean is a Myst-style point & click adventure game. It's fairly big for a flash game, and has a lot of story, so to enjoy it you need to take your time.

Instructions:
You interact with the environment by left-clicking.
To turn left or right, move your mouse to the edge of the room and click on the arrow that appears.
The main menu appears at the top of the screen when you move your mouse there.
For more detailed information, read the Instructions/Help screen in the game. (Highly recommended!)

The deepest most philosophical game ever.

As a coincidence, I also played alphaland before getting to this and I also really enjoyed it. I feel that this game is different from all (or most) others that I have seen. Finishing this game means more to me than finishing any other because there is actually deeper meaning in the game.
I loved the story and the way the game played.
You are now my top favorite game creator/designer on newgrounds (or anywhere at all). I would love to have a conversation with you. I'm a German. Man this game has a lot of coincidence.

This game deserves an 11/10 because it actually means something (unlike most submissions to NG).

there's a lot of great stuff in here!

you clearly spent a lot of time and thought writing all those entries; though i did have to consult the guide to find some of the password fragments, this really challanged me in a really good sort of way.
i like the way it ended - though i'd triumphed, i definitely had the feeling that i'd brought a lot of shit down upon myself by flipping the switch. i guess i always get the feeling that the EVIL COMPUTER really does mean well when it's used as a story device

whoa

I always thought of guns as cool. I still honestly do, but I no longer have any desire to shoot them at anything but targets. I think you just turned me into a pacifist man. The graphics and stuff werent great but it actually helped set the mood that they werent. I have NEVER seen a such meaningful game, even video. And what language is the music in? It sounds like german but I'm not sure. Keep up the amazing work man!

stunning

What a strage coincidence. Some days before I stumbled upon Project "Blue Brain" so I recommend to everyone who likes this game to google for "BLUEBRAIN - Year One" a documentary video. But be warned I could not sleep the night I watched that video; both stunning and scaring.
This great game reflects some of the thoughts that went trough my mind that sleeples night.

Way to challenge the player/reader!

Some deep thoughts there! Shame more people haven't watched this :( (I ended up here after loving Alphaland).

An excellent Myst-style game. Only thing it lacks is the passage of time... coffee cups get cold, the characters opinion of things changes (like what the pipes do), and the hourglass flows. That way the player doesn't have to feel they are wondering around in a unchanging environment - yeah it took me a little while to find the password bits I missed. Of course, from a writers perspective the hourglass being "frozen" fits.

The story certainly does challenge the reader. One thing: I think SGDS needs to struggle in expressing itself - not because it is stupid, but because it has to express itself to us, in our language. Just a thought for future evolutions ;)
