If the controls don't work at all, please click on the game screen first. An update that fixes this issue is on its way, but it needs to be approved by NG first.
Other than that - the arrow keys need to be held down. Once you get older, your avatar moves slower and the keys need to be held down for a little longer to make him move.
Button tapping pointless, keeping button pressed super effective.
I hope this clears some things up, I guess it wasn't as intuitive as I thought (sorry about that, i guess).

interesting details
like the learning to move stage and how in middle life the game goes faster and then starts slowing down and then when you get around 60ish, it starts to take more than one try to get the person to move. I dont think thats a flaw at all I honestly thought it was meant to be like that. wether or not thats supposed to be like that, I liked the game overall. the art work was simple but effective and the gameplay isn't very complex. and then the summary at the end is interesting to read sometimes. good job
