If the controls don't work at all, please click on the game screen first. An update that fixes this issue is on its way, but it needs to be approved by NG first.
Other than that - the arrow keys need to be held down. Once you get older, your avatar moves slower and the keys need to be held down for a little longer to make him move.
Button tapping pointless, keeping button pressed super effective.
I hope this clears some things up, I guess it wasn't as intuitive as I thought (sorry about that, i guess).

Simple , deep and great !
This is a great game , like a simplification of life . It was quite addicting and it was fun trying to get the medals . The controls are simple but I am not sure if they are supposed to be like that but at the older years they get unresponsive . Really good game , well done !

Good game, with some room for improvement
I really enjoyed this game. I am undecided if I enjoyed the simplicity or if it would have benefited from a bit more depth. I guess you nailed it though if it kept my attention for as long as it did (that 14x or higher combo medal was very difficult for me to get). Controls left something to be desired but otherwise a nice (art) game.
