Hey guys! Pestilence here from 4Horsemen Studios. I'm proud to present our first game, Platformation! We spent a long time on this game and are pretty happy with the result. We hope you like it!
Left/Right - Move
Up - Jump
Z - Create Platform
I am glad to have unearthed this interesting submission because it really is quite good. The best thing about it is that it really works well as a puzzle game. You have to look carefully in the lower hand corner to know what is going to come next. This is a game that is great for forming strategy. It might take a few deaths, but it is so unique it truly is worth it. It could have been a bit more detailed as it did not have a background, but still good.
The music is so mundane and it really contrasts with the more complicated gameplay. It was not too hard because you did not have to be on top of a platform to go in the door or get the key. That is quite a big key. This may be the first game I've played here where the description was three different game genres! It does well in every one of them.
I think the game is brilliant.
I'd have a question if you could answer it would be awesome. How do you add collision boxes to the platforms ?( i just started working on a little game and got stuck there -lol)
I'm still using AS2, and you're probably on AS3, but the basic concept is you make all of the platforms one object, named "ground" or whatever, and make your character with the 0,0 marker at his feet, and use hitTest to tell whether your character._x, character._y is hitting "ground"; if he isn't, make him fall. If he is, stop falling.
