When I saw that this was inspired by Death VS Monstars, I got excited. Death VS Monstars is one of my favorite games, it's some great mindless fun. So I just had to try this game out. So how does this game stack up to DVM? Well, it's not too bad, but I'd rather play DVM.
DVM was fast, fluid, and intense. This game's a little clunky(though not bad). Not only that, but enemies can spawn over you and damage you without giving you any time to react. While this happens in DVM sometimes, it happens a lot less often than in this game. I liked the bigger upgrade menu, but NO BULLET TIME(okay, maybe there is, but I have yet to see it)!?! That, and being able to use a few specia weapons, while seems like a good idea, just doesn't sit right with this kinda game. You should really take out the special weapons and instead just allow the player to cleverly swoop in and out of harm's way, and have a power attack when things get too tough. It's more satisfying that way, as the player has to rely on instincts and cunning to get through the day. I did like the addition of bosses though(instead of just one big boss).
In short, this game takes a few steps forward from DVM, but a few more steps back from it. It's not bad though.
