You are carrying out an experiment in microbiology. You have to support life in a colony of bacteria, making them as numerous as possible, but still healthy. Your controls are indirect though. You can only affect whole classes of bacteria with your actions. You are scoring points for alive and colorful cells, while black cells will cost you points and will possible infect other cells. Avoid having too many bacteria total and too many bacteria of any one color as well. (See full description in-game on a sliding panel to the right).

Made under Experimental Game Project theme "Neverending" in 7 days of September 2010. That means that game can play itself (but you can do better!), and scoring might seem unusual. Slightly updated later for achievements and other stuff.

Controls: mouse (buttons alongside the dish), keys 1-9 (as an alternative), standard flixel controls for volume and pause. Update: M toggles music on/off.
Shift+R resets the game.

As cool as a game this is

I really have no idea what the heck is going on. It was fun though.

Interesting game

It's a great, solid game. It's pretty hard though, those pesky secondary colors are always screwing up my colony. It becomes repetitive after a while (and frustrating, damn those black cells are unforgiving) but it's rather pleasing after you understand the mechanics and how to improve your score. Very good!
My top score was 19456. I can't even imagine how to achieve the "impossible goals"...

Thank you for your comment!
Of the impossible goals the most impossible one seems to be "10 of every color". I never saw this achieved, though 8 of every color was once achieved in "idle" mode.
25000 score is actually quite possible after you grasp the moment to sell, it even looks to me easier than I thought at the moment of designing. Killing 50 should also be possible with some luck, saw it once.

Looks pretty cool

Only suggestion is that you include an instructions screen before the game begins.

localGhost responds:

Thank you. I'm looking for a good way to do that; the thing is that original contest task on EGP had tips from Babycastles, that included "Avoid a title screen, or any menu system at all."

Done. Added a tutorial.
