UPDATE: I fixed the problem with the flash not updating.

I left the music playing though the credits because I didn't have any ideas for a credits song. The song playing through the fight is from Melty Blood, Aoko's theme. I chose that because choosing a battle song was a lot harder than I thought, so I picked it as I happened to be listening to it at the time. Doesn't fit much, but hey, it's better than nothing. Feels a little loud too.

For my comments on the fight, well I will definitely not be doing another aerial part if it's just between any grounded characters. Mario is obviously stronger than some random hammer bro out there which is why it doesn't take many hits to beat it as opposed to everything it threw at Mario.

I will probably not be doing a style that's very aerial at all in the future.

It runs at 30fps and has a total of exactly 2800 frames. 1:33

what I think.

Leaving out the fact that theres no sound, that was actually pretty good. I suggest you touch up the sprites ( get rid of Mario's outline) and the background (that line in the sky).

jasonese responds:

The problem with Mario's outline came with resizing his sprites so that he was as tall as the hammer bro. Making an even change made Mario too big, so I was forced to try something a little smaller. Turned out really bad as you can see here.

As for the line in the sky, that happened while copy pasting. Dunno why, it happened in between an already set tile.

This auctally isn't that bad.

The reason why I'm giving you 4 stars is because of one easy main reason, no sounds or music. Theres alot of sites that you can go to for sounds. Just go to google, search flash sounds, and you can download mp3s for the sounds. And for music, well you can download lots of great music off the Audio Portal in Newgrounds.

I really loved the animation, it looks somewhat like Super Mario bros Z.

But because of only good animation, (Though there was some flaws such as lines in the background) you get 4/10. I would of probably gave you 7/10 if there was sounds and music.

4/10

jasonese responds:

I tried to avoid making it look like SMBZ even though I used quite a few of the same sprites. Google leads you to sites where you have to buy sound effects and even then, my guess is that the paid for ones aren't any better than the free ones said sites offer.

As for going to the audio portal, never thought about that, thanks for the idea.

Not bad! But... o.O

I liked it I thought it was cool. Mario really looked and acted a lot more like Sonic the Hedgehog... running so fast and spinning and such.
The animation was good and the flying through the sky was well done, except that you could see lines separating the "sky panels".

Those are my thoughts until I read the info and...
Well, you "could have easily" improved it but decided not to because you "knew it wouldnt get far"?
I'd like to write a more informative and helpful review, but... I'm just feeling really lazy right now after reading that, I don't know what it is. hmm

jasonese responds:

I honestly thought that because of the overuse of Mario and Sonic, this flash would have been ignored or voted down. It seems that the lack of sound is the main problem here. If I knew this beforehand, I would have worked harder on this.

I like it

It's pretty good.
The animation is fluent so thumbs up for that.
What kept it from being great was the lack of sound.
Good job and keep it up!

jasonese responds:

You think so? Guess the lack of sound(and that random line in the sky) really was the biggest problem here.
