BoMToons: This was intended for Madness Day 2010, but was slightly delayed. I had this gameplay idea while watching some Madness cartoons. It's gone through a lot of revisions based on lots of player feedback (thanks Coaly and Jacksmack!). I hope you give it a chance! There are tons of other gameplay features we wish we had time to add like smarter AI, more stealth rewards, smarter reloading constraints, more balanced guns, the ability to watch all your replays in a row, etc...maybe for a sequel? As always, it's a pleasure to work with Luis, his take on my ugly level mock-ups brought a richness and fun to the story that I never would have included. P.S. This was coded "Somewhere in Nevada" where I live!

Luis: This is a strategy/puzzle game, kinda like chess. Enjoy!

Great idea!

It's very, very trial and error, but it's still a very fun game. AP is pretty slow to accumulate, but maybe that's a good thing.

A glitch, unfortunately, ruined my gaming experience. Y'see, by the time I got to the worm right after the two sentry guns, I died from the worm once for not moving. No lie, on the second try, I sprinted ahead, shot twice behind me, and chucked a grenade in the bottom right corner. The timing was so perfect, that the grenade exploded and destroyed the worm in the bottom right. I had survived, standing on the crate in the middle, boss's health was depleted, explosion animation, sound effect, all that jazz...but it told me I had failed.

...What? I killed the worm and lived to tell about it. How did I fail?

I retried the game from the very start. Frustrated I couldn't repeat my lucky grenade hit, I devoted that 1 AP to the other pistol...and in my continued frustration, realizing I'm having a pretty bad time with the FIRST BOSS, I basically rage-quit. One thing I can't complain about is it's certainly not easy, so the challenge is a plus!

Additionally, it would be most useful if you could remove the targeting nodes after you've placed them, instead of having to restart and maneuver your way around level again. It's a pretty brilliant system, with how it's layed out, and it does a good job not to over power Hank...but perhaps he might be a little underpowered.

The atmosphere, characters, and all-around artistic style looked awesome! Sound effects were all good, and the music was appropriate for the mood, but not very interesting and never grabbed my attention. As far as programming goes, it felt very nice! Hank was reliably weighty, and I pulled off the wall-jump well, the targeting system is accurate, and I suppose disallowing targeting nodes to be close together makes sense for recoil, but they should still be easily removed should the player make a mistake. And what's the deal with those grenades? Was my boss mishap a similar result to SangerZonvolt's (below me) deal?

I'm still voting highly regardless of it because it was a good lookin', good feeling game, with a good idea; it's evident you guys spent some time on this. Happy belated Pico Day! Voted 5.

BoMToons responds:

you can remove nodes by clicking on them after they're placed (then clicking an "x" in the gun assignment menu), I'll look into the worm boss grenade bug, thanks!

Awesome concept, not to good execution, wen i started the game i though "Woly shit, look like i will be able to do stuff in this game like in the movies, kill 30 guys with all kinda of cool moves and weapons" but for the most part i think i could do a better job killing the mobs if it was a regular shotter game.
My suggestion is that you can see the enemies pattern, you can buy weapons one time and keep them forever, enemies shoot you, you can steal enemies weapons, can use hand atacks on enemies, more enemies per level

BoMToons responds:

Lots of good ideas, thanks for the review :)

cool but

2 really annoying things 1. two handed can't shoot backward which i don't get if a real life human can shoot backwards why can't Hank and the problem with the shooting point is that its not measured by the second its measured by the second and the distance using by second would have been more helpful :) but put it all together it was a pretty awesome game

I really agree, this is a MADNESS

Well, the first, I must say that this game is fun, with a graphic part well done, and overall it's a fresh type of game, isn't what I thought when I played the first level but anyway it's a new look of the flash games.

Ok, the point is this: the play system it's wrong, the path lines in the "premeditation mode" makes me crazy and don't let me make the shoots that I want (the final level gets harder for this problem). Also, the need of use the replays to know when (and what) the enemies will act isn't a nice propierty, makes the game even more crazy and harder with no need.

I gave it 8 points. It's a good game but needs fixes about the "premeditation mode" system. I hope the sequel fix all the problems.

I do not count my problem with the replays in the rating, because I know is part of the game, but I don't like it :D
