***** SITE'S BACK UP. YAY. THE EDITOR IS SCREWED THOUGH IN THE DEMO, SO FIXING THAT ******

Hello everyone, HI TOM!

Here's my first submission in nearly 7 years. Sorry about that.

This is a demo of Happy Wheels. Choose your inadequately prepared racer, and ignore severe consequences in your desperate search for victory.

Newgrounds is the first home for Happy Wheels outside of my own site. If you haven't seen it yet, please check out the free full version at totaljerkface.com, where lots of people will be sharing their upsetting contributions.

If you are too lazy to look at the controls menu:

up and down for accelerate and decelerate/reverse
left and right for leaning
spacebar, ctrl, shift for specific character actions
z to eject
once ejected, you can grab onto whatever your hands are touching with spacebar, or press the arrow keys to move into different poses/writhe around on the ground

YOU CAN RESTART WITH ESC, R

Dammit!

I love how the dad says "dammit!" when he gets his son killed.
Really fun game, the graphics were great and the physics even better. There were alot of laughs when they scream exclaim and shout.

Happy Wheels...

2 things come to mind:
a. Super Smash Bros. with blood
b. It's a little creepy how much work you put into each body part torn into a million pieces... FUN GAME!!!

Alright

I always find it hard to rate demos because I'm never sure what content the author is planning to add before the full release. I'll give it a go anyway.

Pluses:
1. Nice, clean art style
2. Attractive menu design and layout
3. Smooth ragdoll effects and gibbing
4. Decent physics
5. Interesting obstacles
6. No lag during play*
7. Usable editor for creation of additional player content

Minuses:

1. Long load time for a demo**
2. Lack of audio variety, no music during play, etc.
3. Nonsensical control layout. Why would you have the UP-arrow make you go forward in a side scrolling game? LEFT should send you left and RIGHT should send you right.

4. No consistency in "secondary actions". As far as I'm concerned, the cyclist dad (with baby on board) has no true "secondary actions". Being able to detach either character independently serves no purpose in the game. Especially since you can use "Z" to eject them both anyway. Purhaps ejecting the kid will help lighten the load a bit, but I can think of no scenarios where ejecting JUST the father will be beneficial over using "Z" to eject them both. Whether you use SHIFT or Z you still end up with the father on the floor and an uncontollable bicycle.

5. Lack of purpose or motivation. I'm NOT talking about a story here. All I want is a goal in mind. Just a little balloon pop-up that says "Cross the finish line to win!" or something. As it is now, you just get dropped into the game "level" without any idea of what you're objective is.

6. I clicked on the forth character (which for some reason you added even though it's not playable yet...) and it froze my internet browzer.

*This may only apply to me personally as lag often depends on what system and internet connection you have.
**I have never worked with MochiAds, so it might just be a forced minimum display time for their ad while loading. I didn't deduct "stars" for this in light of my lack of understanding surrounding Mochi's loader and Ad software.
