Hey kids, this is an experiment, take it as it is.

The song is from the album "Target Museum" Specific Recordings - 2010
Buy the vinyl and or mp3:

What if the term "music video game" didn't evoke images of bored college kids fiddling with pathetic plastic guitars emulating the last icons of a declining music industry?

What if indie game developers allied with indie musicians, making odd games promoting odd and unknown music while still keeping their creative autonomy the way the best music-video directors have been doing for decades?

What if a song (not its beats, not its spectrum, not its amplitude!) was dictating the content of a game and not the other way around?

These are the convoluted questions that the convoluted not-game/interactive-musi c-video "Inside a dead skyscraper" is trying to answer!

Is there a way to win or to lose?
Not really.

What's the game really about?
The game and the song are based on Jesse's brief tenure as a videographer in the partially destroyed buildings surrounding the World Trade Center site

Touching game

Music: 10/10. I couldn't understand the lyrics, but it gave an almost dreamlike quality and seemed to fit the game perfectly. Of course, considering that you built the game around the music, that makes sense
Graphics: 8/10 Pretty good, but it felt like something was missing
Exploration: 6/10 I think you could have allowed a bit more exploration in the game
Concept: 10/10 From what I can tell, the moral is that you can't change the past, so why dwell on the tragedies? I got that feeling from how, despite the plane colliding into the building, the little girl only cared about her balloon, and how that was the biggest tragedy in her eyes

10 + 8 + 6 + 10 = 34/40 = 8.5/10 = 9/10 (rounded up)

molleindustria responds:

When the windows were broken the air turned to poison
So time was frozen and time was frozen

They sent in soldiers with oxygen masks to take the gold back
And they filed their lawsuits and they filed their lawsuits

And what they wanted from us
Was a photograph of every dead machine and every shard of glass
And what they wanted from us
Was a document with every speck of dust and every broken thing
Inside a dead skyscraper

We were just out of art school and we were hard up for work
So we took their masks and hazmat suits and went down to New York

And they sent us inside an empty building
And we waited for instructions inside empty rooms

And what they wanted from us
Was a photograph of every dead machine and every shard of glass
And what they wanted from us
Was a document with every speck of dust and every broken thing
Inside a dead skyscraper

There was inches of dust on mahogany tables
Where the footprints of rats raced across the asbestos

And the children in the pictures taped up on the cubicle walls
The children in the pictures they don't move at all

And what they wanted from us
Was a photograph of every dead machine and every shard of glass
And what they wanted from us
Was a document with every speck of dust and every broken thing
Inside a dead skyscraper

There's a lady dressed like an astronaut and she's sitting in a swivel
chair behind a desk
In an elevator wrapped up in plastic and she's filling out Little
League forms, for her kids
And Hot 97 is playing "Blazing Hip Hop and R & B" on a boombox
Hanging up in the air by an extension cord tied to a crystal chandelier
There's calls to war written in the dust on the elevator doors in the lobby
While a secretary's teddy bear sucks off a Batman doll in the stairwell
And if anything could mean nothing at all while signifying everything at once
Then this must be the center of America

And if you get freaked out up on the roof by the little pieces of airplane
Just close your eyes, you know it's OK, everything is made of something
And everything is made of something and everything is made of something
