UPDATE THE THIRD: And thanks again for helping us get weekly 5th!
UPDATE THE 2ND: Thanks for putting us on the front page!
UPDATE: Thanks everyone for giving "Legends" the votes to get Daily First!

Some Legends speak of heroes... and some speak of... these guys.

The carefully laid plans of the "Cult of the Lich" go horribly awry, as the Lord of Death himself is summoned into the world after being trapped in a dark tome for thousands of years. Our two unlikely heroes, the bumbling wizard wanna-be Xiphon, and his height impaired companion Slinks, are exiled to a evil forest and begin their quest to right the wrongs they help caused... or to just get into more trouble.

"Legends of the Black Book - Part 1" is the debut effort by team Toonwerks... made up of three Flash old-timers Casey McDonald ("Xiphon"), Mark Schneider ("th1rt3en"), and Joseph Blanchette ("LegendaryFrog&quot ;). With the goal of delivering original and smart animations, each one of us play to our strengths to give the the best possible experience to the viewer. We hope you enjoy the first part of this multi part series, and urge you to give feedback so we can make improvements in the future!

It is Outspoken for it self o:

This is a well thought animation.
Looking forward to the next.
It made me laugh and was quite entertaining.
The Gnome had a funny voice and it fits his personality and the way he acts!
Well done! Good voice acting as well!
It makes me wonder how brilliant flash artists get ideas like this.

Toonwerks responds:

it takes a long time,

usually things will spark from something small and I'll just continue to keep having ideas.

Dude, The voice acting was a little off key and it seems like it was meant for really young audiences. I do not try to be a dick a any point, but you had a swing and a miss here. Sorry dude It did not get to me at all not one bit. One of the problems I had was that dumb wizard guy had the same tone through the whole thing. Don't stop working at it tho.

NIce character introductions and voice acting. Pretty cool stuff. The storyline hasnt really unfolded yet though so can't really comment on that im sure there will be funny mock battle sequences in the future, but besides all that. Go LegendaryFrog!! been awhile and im a fan. I really expect some plot development on the next one but im sure it will be good.

Good animation, ok story and i laughed a few times over all fun to watch also the whiney dude looks like a gnome from WoW just saying

Toonwerks responds:

The movie was actually a remake of Casey's old WoW movie "Shadows of Azeroth." When we decided to redo it, we took out all of the WoW references. But we liked Slink's look to much, so he still looks kinda gnomey.

First off: So glad to see you back JB! For those of you youngin's who don't know Joseph Blanchette is a legend (lol) to the old school newgroundies.

This piece was excellent. Good timing. Clean lines and details. Funny acting with great actors...just an all around well designed/animated/directed flash and I can't wait to see more.

One thing I'd like to see improved on is the lag. I have a very fast computer and even then some of the tweens were choppy. It didn't kill the overall skit in any way...but ending lag would make this series perfect.
