This game was made possible by a grant from the Digital Media & Learning Competition. The goal was to make a truly educational game that was also genuinely fun to play. We hope students, teachers, and gamers will all enjoy the game, and encourage you to visit www.cellcraftgame.com, which will soon have an open forum and eventually downloadable teacher materials.

The game was designed by Anthony Pecorella. The lead programmer was larsiusprime of Super Energy Apocalypse fame, and the art was by LILg, who created the Reincarnation series. A custom soundtrack was created by Hibiki Haruto.

Also thanks to Dr. Jed Macosko at Wake Forest University and Dr. David Dewitt at Liberty University for providing lots of support and biological guidance.

Thanks so much for the support and kind words - this has already exceeded my hopes in terms of a response for the game! :-D

This game can be processor intensive. There are some options in the menu for reducing the graphics that may help.

***Fixes in v1.0.1***
- Fixed issue in final level with some buttons suddenly no longer functioning.
- Fixed membrane explosion when recycling membrane quickly.
- Possibly fixed fatty acid glitch in Level 3
- Fixed two typos

There is still an issue with getting stuck too far outside of the colored area. Solution - don't go out there. :) It's a somewhat complicated fix, so I'm not sure if we'll get it in or not, but it's the easiest to avoid too.

A fun educational game?! =O

I thought the game was very interesting with its quirky characters and it was easy to pick up and play. I'm studying sciences at university and the game really does the job of teaching what all the parts of the cell do, in an extremely simplified but effective manner. You get the basic idea of the parts, and it's great to watch them do their respective jobs. I'm going to link my professor to this and see what he thinks, haha.

Great work!

Brilliant!

This game was a lot of fun =3 It has a nice epic feel to it. I like the music a lot, especially towards the end. And I have a new respect for the platypus. I didn't run into any glitches or complications during the game and it went quite swimmingly til the end ^^

VERY GOOD BUT...

This is a very good game. the only thing i had a problem with (which isn't a big deal at all and didn't effect my rating) was that cheesy robot. him and his puns... anyways, i reall like this game. if there was a second, i would totally play it

Fun game, still needs some work though.

This was a very interesting game to play, especially for a science nerd like myself. I enjoyed learning more about cellular biology as I played, and there was actually a little challenge in learning to time your enzyme construction properly, some things took up to nearly a minute to create.

Unfortunately, by level 5(?) the game ground to an abrupt, immersion breaking halt as a single virus RNA strand glitched and locked in place, refusing to die or move, causing every slicer enzyme I had to gather in the spot and sit around being equally useless. I could find no way to fix this, and was forced to refresh my browser page.

This could be something you could look into for making the game better :)
