7/08/2010 :: Just wanted to thank all of you (especially the NG crew) for all the support of my first animation. It has been such an inspiration, I've already begun my next project ... which will be of a much higher caliber, I promise. Seriously, thanks so much :D

6/29/2010 :: Updated Sound Quality.

!!WARNING!! This video is an "inside reference" to Castlevania SotN. There's a good chance if you haven't played it, you may not get the running gag. Otherwise, enjoy :D

I remember the first time I ever heard that damned librarian, "Young Master, I cannot aid one who opposes the Master." My buddy Nate and I did a double-take and couldn't stop laughing for an hour. That would have been about 10 years ago.

I also found it hilarious that the developers would throw in an Easter egg like smashing the librarian into the ceiling 100 times...haven't seen an in-game Castlevania gag like that for a while.

I've been meaning to milk that joke for about a decade. And...finally...here it is. The video took roughly three days between work and sleep. It's my very first completed Flash video of any kind. So, be gentle...

Special thanks to the wonderfully creative folks at NG, and especially Egoraptor ... who I know has been an inspiration to many :)

heh, very nice

The only think I'd change is to, perhaps, have the Axe Armor go flying out of the Librarian after being smashed a few times.

Other than that, I totally got the jokes and thought the voice acting was actually pretty faithful to the game. The Librarian's voice even had that "not-quite-close-enough-to-the-microp hone" quality.

Good work. Keep it up, pal.

RicePirate responds:

Aye, I was thinking of adding some easter eggs likes that...but I'm not sure about the resubmitting policy...

Sadly I don't remember him saying that but I love how you did this. He has to obey yet he won't XD The whole castle shooked from the beating haha and dracula slept through the whole thing but you left out that hot girl :( Made me laugh.

Btw just curious did you get the rumored backwards percent added to your map?

RicePirate responds:

I did ... 200.6% ... I'm not certain (it's been over a decade now) but I think you had to use your Sword Familiar move or something in the corners of certain maps (the hanging garden area had some i think??) I can't really remember :PP

hmm

This really was just not funny. There's absolutely nothing witty about it. And yes I get the reference of jumping up through the conspicuously placed hole beneath the librarian to get his goods.

To quote the author: "I remember the first time I ever heard that damned librarian, "Young Master, I cannot aid one who opposes the Master." My buddy Nate and I did a double-take and couldn't stop laughing for an hour. That would have been about 10 years ago."

Apparently you and Nate have a dumb sense of humor, much like Eddsworld.

RicePirate responds:

Again, all I can say ... Humor is subjective. While you may not like it, there have been plenty of folks who responded well to the video. Though the last handful of reviews have not been so favorable.

To each their own.
