In the 1066 game you get to control the English, Viking or Norman armies. The aim of the game is to defeat your enemy's army by killing or scaring off as many of them as possible! The game puts you into the thick of the action, giving you direct control over every arrow barrage, cavalry charge and defensive stand. Taunts, chants and the presence of a strong leader will all prove crucial to winning the day.

A multiplayer option also offers the chance to test your mettle against friends.

Best of its kind

This game will appeal to those interested in history and mililtary tacticians alike. I have yet to find another game like this, and is a breath of fresh air in this Modern Warfare 2 dominated world.

Graphics are top notch.
Voice work is excellent, if not a bit stereotypical (especially of the French)
Gameplay is enjoyable and requires tactical thinking.

My only qualm is that the game is too short, and that the battles are a bit too generic. More strategies besides flanking and formations should be added if there is ever to be a sequel.

As for a sequal, it should perhaps focus on the Crusades (though that is a bit controversial). Ancient history would be the best era to go to such as the Greco-Persian war, Muslim conquests of Persia, Mongolian invasions and so on. Also, Naval battles should also be a very good addition.

*Too long, didn't read*: Very good game in almost every way possible and a sequal would be perfecto.

Awesome game

Just managed it in hard ... and it was hard ;-)

I like the concept of the game, also the minigames are suiting fine (i like expecially the taunting idea ;-)).

For next version I would also like vertical flanking attacks.

Also difficulty is not properly distributed, because first level is much harder than second and third level to win. Especially on hard you will see this.

All in all an awesome game and I am looking to next version ^^.

Outstanding!

Calabria001 has a lot of good suggestions, but I like the fact that each faction has their own weaknesses to exploit and the strengths to make up for them. Although, these weaknesses do seem a little bit to easily. And about the Archers, well, they don't exactly do as much damage as they should have. A barrage of several hundreds of arrows ought to have been able to kill more than a 120+ in a group. But despite these little ignorable bits, the game is a shining example of what a strategy game should be

I love this game, and if only there could be a way to make this an actual board game I think it'd start challenging the very core of chess. Excellent work, and I'm glad to say I will be revisiting this game for many times to come.

Oh, and Ian Holm for the narrator? AWESOME.
