This is a simple coin collecting game. I have had no experience with Flash so bear that in mind. I did this for a college unit. Please enjoy.
I give this no stars because of some stuff that made this a disaster.
1. There are voices you can hear when you play the game, which can be incredibly annoying over time.
2. How am I supposed to win this game? Is this like one of those infinite games where you can't win or lose?
3. Yeah, using a jetpack on space could be difficult but WITH GRAVITY?! Okay this is already too far.
Jet Pack, Dude.
Hmmm, another college project, huh? Not bad for a first attempt at a game, but I don't think it is demanding of passing judgment here on the Portal. The game itself is very simple and becomes very easy once you understand that the character you are controlling moves specifically to the direction you press, not the relative location of the character. The music is catchy and somewhat fitting I suppose (Robo-Ky collecting coins, naked, on a jet-pack...IN SPACE!), though the vocals are laughable.
As for the rest of the game, I can't say very much of it. The controls are easy, but confusing. The idea and premise of this game is outplayed and poorly executed. The background graphic is a stand-in picture and looks very rough, as does the overall presentation. You can easily get negative points if you wander off the sides of the screen too long, though I don't know if that was intentional or not. The graphics are forgettable and the game as a whole feels incomplete.
Because I see some potential in this game for improvement, I shall share some suggestions. Of most importance is to try and refine the jet-pack controls a bit, so that players don't randomly go off in every direction because the character sprite was confusing. On that note, improving the graphics would also be something to improve, as I got the impression that the coins were slices of cheese and the Jet-pack "dude" was naked. To make it even better, I would add some level of difficulty by placing asteroids and rival spacers to avoid, maybe adding some levels to play through as well.
As it is, this game should have been BLAMmed, but I think that if the above suggestions were taken, it would be a game of its own worth on the Portal. How did your college unit go?
You've got three stars for it not looking too bad, but after all you just collect coins with no difficulty gradient, no menus etc. the music was a little odd too.
totally agree with you, if im honest i had to make it like this as it was for a college project and i didnt have much time lol. I will take into account the feedback.
The fact that its a jetpack made me think the controls are goign to be relative, so you just might want to consider that change next. The game is pretty allright, but gets boring quickly. If you put in more challenges - like needing to collect coins in a certain period of time - or 'fuel' running out, it'd be much nicer.
