A number of people have pointed out that many of the graphics in Tropical Dragon Slaughter are from Tyrian (this is noted on the title screen as well) -- an excellent shmup originally released in the mid-90s. If you've never played it, you probably should; Google "OpenTyrian" to find the freeware version.
Daniel Cook, the original artist for Tyrian, made the graphics freely available via his blog, Lost Garden -- you can find them at this URL:

frag yeah, tyrian!
just for making this game based on tyrian, i am giving you full score. tyrian was one of the best games of the DOS age, and it greatly pleases me to see that i'm not the only one who loves it.

fun

Fine but unorignal
Graphics are OK (hello Tyrian sprites)
Sound is good.
Physical engine do the tricks too.
But:
- Nothing new
- Only one upgrade
- Mouse controlled ? Really ? IMO every other controller on earth are more suited than a freaking mouse for a scroller/avoider. At least give us the choice.
