Hi, Newgrounds. I thought I would never have to say that, but long time no see. Anyway, many sleepless months went into making this one, so I really hope you like it.
So what is it about, you may ask? Well, what can possibly be more fun than chess pieces that come to life to beat the snot, blood and brains out of each other.
The game is entirely mouse operated.
In case you mess up, you can always "undo turn".
Can you see all 50 animations? The hardest ones to achieve are the best, for instance the king is badass when killing an enemy. If you click on the "executions" button in the main menu it tells you which ones you've seen and which ones you haven't.
I spent some time creating an entertaining in-game "chess rules" section, which thoroughly explains all the rules of the game on 14 pages. Hopefully, beginner and intermediate players will find it useful.

awesome
i really like it, it's rare that chess is brought back in such a spectacular way.
the animations are great, but i wish the deaths would be both ways ( what i mean is that when the enemy kills one of your pieces, an animation starts to)
p.s. i got 47 executions, except for pawn kills queen, king kills queen and horse kills queen

very good but
in the instructions on the description of the so called stale mate the king can take the pawn to the right so its not a stalemate and most people who make chess games dont know about the castle or enpassant so it makes playing even harder i like the executions ive always wantedd the little chess pieces to look like people and to have them kill rather than capture
I looked at the position you mention. The pawns on the 6th rank are impossible to take, because they are both protected by the pawn on the 5th rank, which is protected by the white king. It is a stalemate. Thank you for the positive review!

Great game!
Animations were hilarious. What song is that after you get checkmate? Its so pretty!
