Great game with an excellent selection of characters especially with a great graphics choice I might add. No storyline but awesome ideas formed to make some very famous classic NES characters put into this old remake of a Super Mario Bros game with great audio choice and a very nice platformer I might add.
While the controls were very interesting although learning the concept of how to do each characters special attack is difficult unless you've read the instructions very clearly. Some characters had problems with the smaller goombas such as Megaman or Simon because there attacks weren't low enough to hit those characters whatsoever.
An awesome game to play for a little while just not to long but certaintly replay the game many times every week or so. Amazing mario remake and crossover.
Tons of potential
I see what you came here to accomplish, and let's be straightforward about this: you accomplished it brilliantly. However, nothing's without its flaws, and there are a couple things that kinda bugged me.
For one, Mario seemed to be the only one who could swim. I know you're being true to the original characters, but all it really did was make those stages much harder than they needed to be. Even with the wave beam, they were hell. It all comes down to the fact that you weren't SUPPOSED to have to walk through them. They were designed for a character that could float over most of it by treading water.
I know you must be getting a lot of character requests, but one character I was stunned to not see was Kirby. I know he can fly, but in some iterations, he could only hold his breath so long, so you could have spun it that way. Plus, you could have switched it around and made him have to eat the enemies for powers instead of the actual powerups, and like in his own games, said enemies are scarce, so you can't abuse it.
That's it for the technical details, but what really kept me from giving you a 9 or a 10 is that you didn't go beyond the constraints that you gave yourself. I appreciate that you're trying to stay true to the original, but how about a couple new secrets hidden in places that only Mario's new friends can reach? They are capable of things he's not, and I'd like to see some challenges added that are made specifically for them, even if they are just extras. Also, why doesn;t the fire flower give Mega Man the metal blades? I know it's supposed to be fire power, but seriously, why?
What I like is how balanced everything feels. What I was worried about when I originally saw this was that some of these characters would make the game too easy, and while Bill kinda does, for the most part, it still retains that balance of being not too difficult and not too easy, and I give you props for that.
This is great as is, but as I've said, it's the things you DIDN'T do that really get me. If you ever tackle a Mario Bros. 2 crossover, take some of the things I've said into consideration. Also, anyone else think it's funny that this was all made in less time than it's taken another group to finish a similar famous freeware compilation? And that same TEAM of people isn't even halfway done while this single guy is already finished? Funny, that.

And strangely, it plays very well too. It's funny how this was just an experimental game that turned out to be a huge hit. BTW, nothing is stoping you from adding Ryu on the Newgrounds version too, considering how popular it is here. He makes the game a lot easier. I haven't played all the way through, but I plan to.
