This game is by far one of the most brilliant I have ever seen.
Truly a masterful piece. Wonderfully programmed.

god damn!

wow... that all I can say about this game. The idea is to put other NES classic characters, like Simon Belmont and Bill from Contra, into Super Mario Bros. and WOW does it work. Usually I would rate a game via sound, graphics, and overall game play but instead I decided to give a description of each characters gameplay.

Mario: well, what do you expect. He's pretty basic in his play, his advantage is to be able to shoot fireballs and run

Link: The little, and I do mean little, fairy boy is here for some fun. during his first upgrade and original state he has a rather short reach, but can use the sword laser while fully upgraded. He can also stab upwards or downwards while jumping, which really isn't very helpful outside of breaking a few blocks.

Bill: God I love playing as this guy. Bill can fire his gun in any direction, even while running and jumping. First upgrades give him a machine gun, while his second upgrade will give him a shotgun; both of which make it guaranteed to hit your enemy at least once. But like most taller characters, his tends to miss goombas making it required to crouch to hit them.

Simon: Fear the whip! Simon is the oddest character of the bunch, in that you really have to get used to him in order to use him properly. He has his whip which misses goombas until he gets upgraded, and axes he can hurl over head. The problem with simon is that his jumps suffer from the stiffness of the old castlevania games. He may have a double jump but he jumps are so low that it becomes more of a necessity than a feature, and if you fuck up your jump by a little then you can kiss that life goodbye. its not a problem with the game but should be taken note of anyway

Megaman: blasting goombas have never been so much fun. Megaman, oddly enough, comes without his helmet or his charging ability (save for when you get his upgrades). Like link, he is rather small and can fit under most openings, but the slide is actually really useless being that it just wastes more time than it conserves.

Samus: the babe with a blaster, makes a nice appearance. She is able to roll up into a ball and leave bombs for any unsuspecting sucker to walk into. While un-upgraded her shots go right over goombas heads and has a rather short reach. While upgraded once her laser goes much further and during her second upgrade she sheds her armor gaining a new laser that sort of zigzags up and down making hitting enemies a breeze. Also, she has a rather high jump in my opinion.
