This was made for Titmouse, Inc's annual "5 Second Day"
We make cartoons year round, but one day of the year we all say "screw it" and make something of our own. The shortest they can be is 5 seconds.
This year I got ambitious, and made this heartfelt tribute to Mega Man.
A gigantic thanks goes out to Tommy Robin aka Ockeroid of Newgrounds, who provided me with tons of great 8-bit music, and went out of his way to learn a program just to make it.
Hope you guys like it!
*3/21/2010: Thanks for making this a daily feature, true believers! Makes the 25 hours I stayed up making it, well worth it!
Ooooh, Front Page too! I feel justified in making this thing. Who knows, maybe I'll make more.
Great Job, 8.5
I really enjoyed it; my favorite part was for sure the bidididididi health bar filling up but other than that I gotta say the jokes were a little one dimensional. They were really basic, I enjoyed them, but they didn't bring a huge laugh out of me. I enjoyed the music though and the mix of sprite with real art was good. I hope you make more, this one was fun.
My husband and I are huge fans of Mega Man and we both really loved this!
Props to the voice actors, they really brought the characters across, the music rocked, and the art definitely made me a bit nostalgic. I got a major kick out of the script, the subtle humor was not overdone.
I Enjoyed the Homage and the References, But...
Other then that there wasn't much substance to this. I understand why though this being originally an idea made to be an incredibly short "short." Still, I felt the jokes were very shorthanded. I understand the observational, witty sense of humor, but the punchlines were just a little too light. I enjoyed the "bidibidibidi" bit as much as everyone else however. I believe you had yourself a decent set up, but didn't fully utilize it.
Everything else was great though: music, acting, animation(not as much as the others). The 8-Bit music I found very tasty and was very enjoyable. I enjoyed the Boss Man portrayal, there was a lot of energy. Not as much with Rick Mann, he sounded a bit more reserved. The animation did it's job and looked fine.
So, yeah, I get what you were trying to do, but I feel you just didn't quite reach your goal with me. Sorry if I took this submission a little too seriously, but hey if you do decide to make more I hope you can reach my ridiculous expectations.
Your "Well Executed Review" blaster has depleted my energy resources.
I'm gonna have to swig an E-Tank or two to recover. Touche.
Such a Classic!!!
Simply Awesome!!! The same Megaman Game Schematics, the soundtrack... I feel like picking up my old NES and play Megaman all over again... But NO PASSWORDS XD!!!
