What the...?
I know the meaning of the word engine. This is no engine, but a template as said before. An engine is complete. This thing is probably written in max 50 lines code, and you can find several of programming exercises online in which you can make this. This is too simple to be the base of a platform game. If you want to see an 2D platform engine, look for "Game maker" on google.

No objective, point system, or goal at all.
Something tells me that this is just a platformer game template that you found on the internet somewhere, and not an original work.
Do you not know the meaning of engine? This is something YOU download to make a platform game.
