A game by Bentosmile (ported to Flash by Raitendo)

Bentosmile's comments:

Air Pressure is a visual novel game that I've been working on on-and-off for a while. It has only three different endings, but a lot of branches!

I hope you enjoy it. It is quite a serious game, I guess. :)

Quite an interesting story, first time through I was a little lost, second time, I THINK I got the good ending.

Thing that is bothering me the most is the song... it seems so familiar, but slow. Is it a Yoshi's Island song slowed down?

My thoughts

Good, thought provoking game.

I think Leigh is a drug (heroine?) She's always been attached to his arm, he feels like he relies on her to get by but knows he should quit her, and if he tries to quit, she becomes vicious and goes on the offensive (withdraw?). if he remains in balance, he just remains a casual user, if he leaves her then he's clean, and if he tries to get closer, he becomes a hardcore user, eventually needing to be hospitalized.

Very Nice

I love the messages here

I feel I'm in a similar situation, I have a girl that loves me, but I don't know if I am happy or not. It is really weird. You feel like you are being stupid and that you have been given something wonderful and you shouldn't waste it. But feel like you want to be alone, single again, without the tie down. It is really a tear up because I love her one moment and want to get rid of her the next...But do you suck it up....and live a safe life, where you don't hurt her, and you are just fine. Or do you just go for it, cut free, but run the risk of never finding anything as good?

This game is a little different, mainly because the main character portrays the girl as being a crutch (and I think a little controlling)...but regardless it really makes you think about the one you love.

I am really touched by the bad ending. He has convinced himself he is happy, and yet he hurts himself, but even while in the hospital all he can think about is how he couldn't be happier. The ability of the human mind to blind itself is amazing, and really makes you think about if you do this to yourself.

It's just so absorbing.

This is not a game. This is a study in mania, ranging from depression to schizophrenia. Leigh serves as a crutch for you, to the point of going and doing everything together. Very mind-blowing built from a concept so simple. Though I suppose simple is a bit of an understatement, considering how effed-up my mind is.

Fived and Faved.

just wauw

I'm awarding full points for this one, just because of the insane deepness this story has.
just the fact that you need at least two endings to maybe get what is really going on is just amazing.
I'm not going to spoil anything myself but I have to say that Ravv is correct, in my eyes, as it was also the first thing that popped into my mind, if you look at it that way you do realise that this endings are actually backwards. Now for the -spoiler- to explain that sentence

If you want to go further it goes wrong
if you want it to stay that way he remains in balance
if you want to stop it goes right

thought the story is so well written allot of people don't realise this

now for the flash itself , I appreciate the fact that you tried to animate such a good writing (please thank the author for me :) ) and even though it isn't really animated I feel that the flash really did some good things to it, like give it more meaning and make us discover for ourselves just what the meaning of the story was

if there are people out there who don't get the story, please don't flame this then, don't rate either, just walk away and leave this masterpiece alone, those who do get it will barely have another choice other then to give this flash full points =)

I salute you for giving the author a way to tell this to the internet folks

raitendo responds:

Just to clarify, the author (bentosmile) had made this full game already, but it was a downloadable game using the Ren'py visual novel engine. I (Raitendo) only ported it to flash (i.e. re-coded everything). The graphics, the writing, the structure, the lot - it was all done by Bentosmile.
