A game by Bentosmile (ported to Flash by Raitendo)
Air Pressure is a visual novel game that I've been working on on-and-off for a while. It has only three different endings, but a lot of branches!
I hope you enjoy it. It is quite a serious game, I guess. :)
Hanged on his left arm in particular for years, circular dependency issues, hospital issues... Neat way to discuss addiction.
What I thought worked pretty well is how manipulative the girl tends to be during certain dialogue options. For the most part, she seems to be just a needy girl, but for others, you can really tell how she preys on the protagonist's fears and dependence.
On the surface, it comes off as a very shallow and simple thing, but the subtlety hits you once you realize it.
it's a novel with it's own characters...
but i assumed it was a sort of role playing game that gives the player a lot of choices, my bad for not realizing that. 10 for graphics, style and atmosphere, - 5 because my stomach hurt when it meant that staying in means not being happy at all. but thanks.
This is great!
I love this, but the reviews up until now have been useless. The girl is heroin. He is in the hospital because he overdosed. The nurse says he "missed the vain". The three different endings are: quitting drugs, staying dependant or overdosing. Come on people! It's like half of you didnt even watch the damn movie.
Very Nice Game!
And an amazing deeper meaning.
To those who are confused about the storyline, watch all three endings. Also, pay attention to the fact that the next day, Leigh is "fading." There's a reason why there's no "happy ending." And, "I met her as a teenager. She's been rapped around my left arm ever since." And in the ending where he and Leigh get "closer than ever," the nurse says something along the lines of, "well at least you didn't hit any arteries or nerves," when he wakes up.
(His relationship with Leigh is a metaphor to a heroin addiction.)
About what the game means
Play it once again, with the idea in mind that she could be the personalisation of his drug addiction. Every single sentence makes sense (and runs a shiver down my spine...). But try it yourself and make up your own mind.
