This is the story of Katan, a little aztec critter who works as a stonemason on huge pyramid projects. He's an eager, talented employee who beleives strongly in what the project stands for, putting in endless overtime to get things done.

When a less committed, self-serving employee hatches a plan to steal the soul jewel of the temple, the mysterious crystal skull, Katan finds himself under blame and attack from the very monument he helped to create.

I started making this toon November 2008 and finally exported it in January 2010.
Various delays, injuries, graduations and jobs made it hard to focus on for a lot of the time- but it is fairly safe to say that it took a year to make... Which also accounts for the style changes and quality progression evident throughout the four mins of play time ;)

Thanks for watching- and thanks again to Newgrounds for letting me upload such large movie files

This is really good!

Obviously, I should have expected you to make this flash great, and you did. I felt a little sad when Katan initially died after saving the skull, and I actually thought it would end there, but I'm glad that he got revived. And the thief's comeuppence in Eygpt is just brilliant! I'd love to see more movies based on Katan's universe, even if they don't have to feature him directly!

Okay, i have to be serious- this is just amzing!

The plot, while not having a lot of detail was very good. I just loved the speed at which you progressed through the story. At moments, it did feel an awful lot like "Indiana Jones and the crystal skull", but otherwise it was just great. 9/10

Graphic-wise, it was great. The backgrounds were rich in detail & colorful, especialy in the opening scene. Though in some parts, it seems like you forgot to put shading on the character models and some objects. (For instance: In the opening scene, where the three Aztec critters are smashing boulders, they lack shading and they do not have ears.) The problem with the cut off ear changing sides has been adressed, but it just has to be mentioned. The flames in this flash are just fantastic, though they seem a bit choppy on the main menu. You could have experimented a bit by having the flames light up their surroundings in a orange-ish color. One thing that seems strange to me is how the tails of these creatures are so edged. 9/10

Audio-wise, this flash is just top-notch. The music is in perfect sync with the on-screen action. The fact, that there is no voicework makes it that much better, since it would only take away from the music. 10/10

It's a shame, that you don't want to do a sequel, since these critters are just amazing, especialy in combination with the enviroment they're thrown in to. I don't see why a prequel couldn't be made, telling us how the Aztec critters found the jewel.

Oh, and the easter eggs-so epic. The second statue in the opening scene and the OTIS sign on the botoom of the elevator both made me LOL.

This movie just wowed me so much, that i just can't give it any less than 10/10, especialy after you've worked on it for almost 1.5 years.

Simply fantastic. At first glance I wasn't quite sure why this was on top of the flash pile but after the end of it all I can certainly see why.
